SB is Chantech (21/17 tag in my books) and button is a fish of the calling variety.

Full Tilt Poker Pot Limit Hold'em - 5 players
2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked

BB: $200.25
Hero (UTG): $269.40
CO: $74.75
BTN: $88.05
SB: $411.80

Pre Flop: Hero is UTG with K A
Hero raises to $7, 1 fold, BTN calls $7, SB calls $6, 1 fold

Flop ($23):
K 6 2
SB checks, Hero bets $16, BTN calls $16, SB raises to $68

Ugh. I'm struggling with spots like this. What's your standard line assuming no recent table history with villain (oh, I run 20/15ish to help give a perspective from the villains eyes)?

i mean his line is pretty awful with a set given he could easily c/c flop and lead turn, but people suck at poker

while i think a c/r bluff on his part isn't necessarily awful (you're likely cbetting too wide here and fish is peeling w/any gutter and probably pocket 3s or better), almost nobody would c/r bluff here at 1/2

1. He is representing 6 combinations
2. Its multiway
3. One person called your cbet
4. You are UTG

-> It cant be a bluff too often
-> It cant be a semibluff often because of the likely combinations and FE
-> If SB dont have a set, then BTN may have

Thats the reasons why I instamuck that hand. I didnt use pokerstove, but i think SB's preflop range is mainly PP's here, and therefore sets.

terp, does this being a protected pot factor into your decision one way or the other, and if so, why?
04-17-2008 , 08:28 AM
i wouldn't call it a protected pot yet, so no. fish might still fold if more money goes in. these guys are kind of clueless as their stack creeps to the middle and they still have cards in their hand.

I dont cbet with AQ in this spot because of that reason. Do you think I should?

@terp,

well, what I'm getting at is that buttons presence in this hand seems like it plays an important role. While he's just calling a c-bet here I'm not sure how this is going to influence SB range of bluffing hands (ie. is SB squeezing more because a weak button calls here?)....

this is more an assumption about what the particular opponent might THINK about our range rather than what it really is. checking this flop w/AQ in this spot is definitely best. if we held JT, i would probably still bet with some frequency since we'll get two folds often enough.

people at 1/2 do not bluff here. it might well be a great bluff spot, but they don't bluff. hence you should not continue.

Checking with AQ is def best but betting with JT is good? I'm more inclined to bet AQ, but bet both of them quite alot depending on my opponents.
