200nl: Close river call (I think?) 200nl: Close river call (I think?)

Not many hands on villain but he seemed donkish - note stack size.

Preflop table was real limpy and fishy so I didn't mind taking a big multiway pot.

Poker Stars $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players
2+2 Hand Converter Powered By DeucesCracked

UTG: $160.00
MP: $176.90
Hero (CO): $207.30
BTN: $128.45
SB: $224.10
BB: $197.15

Pre Flop: Hero is CO with 8 8
UTG calls $2, 1 fold, Hero calls $2, BTN calls $2, SB calls $1, BB checks

Flop: ($10.00) 5 4 4 (5 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $8, BTN calls $8, SB folds, BB folds, UTG folds

Turn: ($26.00) 7 (2 players)
Hero bets $22, BTN calls $22

River: ($70.00) 2 (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $62, Hero ?

Worth a call?

I feel like he has 55, 77 or missed something (prob FD but maybe 66). I doubt he has a 4.

If you wouldn't call this bet how much would you be willing to call?

I think this is a pretty trivial river call against a someone with his stack.

if you call here you're calling with aq here too I presume...
06-12-2008 , 01:25 AM
i hate on limping a lot less than the next guy, but eights might be too good to overlimp. deuces or somethin i like the overlimp better.

think the river's a call
06-12-2008 , 01:26 AM
Well I beat a few things he could have...mostly 66 but I guess crap like 57 too since its a limped pot.

So 88 doesn't exactly = AQ here. But yeah it is close to it.
06-12-2008 , 01:26 AM
nah he can have 67, 78, 66 even AK because range merges are def in his range
06-12-2008 , 01:27 AM
he doesn't bet those hands on the river very often

Honestly, a lot of players do. If he has 76s he's thinking "time to go to value town with my top pair" and he'll certainly bluff missed draws as well
06-12-2008 , 01:41 AM
i think its a fold, theres really not many hands you beat here that he is betting. alot more hands beat you here
06-12-2008 , 04:46 AM
I call here, he might have it but i think he shows up with a missed flush, air or a pair which he didnt know why he was betting with it for alot more often.
06-12-2008 , 04:47 AM
call for all the reasons shpanko said

isn't this a good spot to make a blocking bet(about 40$) and fold to a raise?
if you check, i'm thinking you want missed draws to bet, in which case it's an instacall.
amirite?
06-12-2008 , 07:29 AM
wait and wtf raise preflop you full ring nittard
06-12-2008 , 08:48 AM
Raaaaaaaaise pre when ppl are limp calling stuff like K3o. And u have pos which is really important.

River is a call cos donks will bet a ton of hands you beat here and the fd missed.
