SB: $154.09
BB: $194.00
UTG: $102.58
CO: $268.27
Hero (BTN): $229.21

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BTN with 5 8
2 folds, Hero raises to $3.50, SB calls $3, BB calls $2.50

Flop: ($10.50) 7 8 5 (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $8.00, SB raises to $25.48, BB folds, Hero ????

Villain is 22/17, 13% 3-bet from blinds and 13% call open from SB. It's only 200 hands though and we haven't tangled in any way that would give me a better read. The table has been pretty aggressive and I've been joining in the fun with cold 4-bets when the CO squeezes and stuff so look pretty aggro.

I want to say, 'I have 2 pair on a drawy board, let's get it in' but I have this horrible feeling the only hands that will play along are sets when we're this deep.

What would you do and why?

The good news is you have blockers to 2/3 possible sets; also the straight hands are kind of unlikely 46 and 69. Meanwhile there are a lot of combo draws out there. Against his entire range, I'm comfortable stacking off this deep on the flop, but I don't mind getting it in on the turn. This is where any sort of combo draw either makes it or takes a significant equity cut. So I like a call on the flop, raise the turn or bet to protect if he checks to you

On the turn you don't want to see:

4 x3
6 x3
7 x3
9 x3
club x9

21 cards out of 45 remaining in the deck.

In a vacuum I'd prefer to just get it in on the flop.

Thanks guys. I think, on reflection, calling and re-assessing on the turn would have been the better play.

In the hand I made it $80 and he shipped and I called and he had 77 but I spiked an 8 on the turn. Nice to run good.
