100NL river decision 100NL river decision

Villain was 24/14 with AF 1.29 and 3bet ~2% Fold to cbet 12% (1/8) over 122 hands

We had recent history in which I raised pre from SB, villain called in the BB . I double barreled air on K982r and c/f 3/4 pot bet on 3x river.

Given that, should we be calling river here? FWIW I would have probably checked turn against a lot of players but given the previous hand I decided to barrel but that might not enough history to warrant the play...

any reason why you're betting so small on the flop and turn?

i fold the river here against a lot of villains if i'm not just betting myself. against him i think it's a call, but there really isn't that much history.

I think this concept is really important here. Once you check to him on the river, he's probably just checking back AT and worse and value-betting AJ+. So you're basically letting him valuetown you.

If you bet yourself, OTOH, he might still pay you off with Ax or even KQ. Once you check the river, you can pretty much only beat like a KTss or something. But really that's just wishful thinking. You pretty much have to fold. That's why I like betting better, even though you end up valuecutting yourself quite often.

c/c here seems pretty bad imo since there is no air in his range and he doesn't seem particularly sophisticated. I'd probably just b/f $25 here expecting to be good the majority of the time.

As said before flop+turn is too small.
As played c/c the river on this board is really bad with your hand.
You are either strong enough for a value bet (usually
i would not vbet AJ here but after your small flop+turn bet it might be +Ev),
or you should c/f cause vill. vbetting range on a dry board, is a lot tighter
than his calling range.

Ok thanks guys, just starting to play around with cash (normally an MTT guy) so my sizings are off I know. Should it be something like 6/7 on flop and 13/14 on turn? Also, the idea of keeping his value range as wide as possible on the river (by betting rather than letting him bet) makes a lot of sense- what sizing should we take on river? One question I would ask is if we get to river and check as played, do you guys expect villain to have any kind of bluffing range? If so, how big of a part of his range do you expect it to be?
