Playing .50/$1 NL on Bovada at a 6-max table. I villain had just sat down so I had no history.

UTG 140bb
MP 68bb
CO 102bb
BTN 35bb
SB (Villain) 106bb
BB (Hero) 124bb

Hero has J3 in the BB (pot= 1.50)

UTG calls 1, MP calls 1, CO calls 1, BTN folds, SB calls .50, Hero Checks

Flop: (pot= $5.00, 5 players) 3K3

SB bets 2, Hero calls 2, fold, fold, fold

Turn: (pot= $9.00, 2 players) 2

SB bets 1, Hero calls 1

River: (pot= $11.00, 2 players) 6

SB bets 5.50, Hero raises to 11.00, SB re-raises to 42 ($31.00 more)

Hero?

I am really hoping to increase my profitability by becoming disciplined enough to get away from good hands when it is clear that I am beat, and I feel it is extremely unlikely for anyone to take this line has a bluff. However, he did just call the SB so he could have weaker 3x combos in his range or if he happens to be a really bad player he could be overplaying some type of Kx hand (the underbet he did on the turn made me feel that he doesn't really know what he's doing). He is raising slightly more than the pot size here. Your thoughts?

I like raising turn when he bets so small but as played I probably fold unless he's super spewy. Not sure what he can really have here with his bet sizing but possibly 66 or 63?

I suppose this is old school but what's the advantage to flatting the minbet on the turn? River is meh probably a fold, but not super excited assuming you are raising all three's.

Good point about raising on the turn. It is probably the best play, especially w/ the 2 s and 2 connected cards on the board. When he bet that small I was putting him on a K with a weak kicker or maybe a low PP and thinking he was betting defensively. I thought I could get extra value from a marginal hand like that on the river by smooth calling. But looking back I suppose raising him out of the pot is sometimes better than letting him see another card that could possibly drawout on me.

Yeah which isn't a bad line but I think we have to just try and get more value here and build the pot.. Think you were just trying to get a little to creative.
