Villain is 38/16 over 61. I don't think he's very good but I don't have any specific reads yet. I'm tempted to raise his turn bet for value vs draws and worse made hands, but I risk getting 3bet without knowing what hands are in his range. So . . . call?

Villain is pretty unknown here; I would just call and see the river.
06-27-2010 , 11:30 PM
calling is probably best given that you probably cant expect an unknown to call a raise AND a bet on the river with a hand you beat

does look like hes trying to get a cheap card tho.....

How about raising the turn and checking back non 9 rivers?
06-28-2010 , 12:12 AM
I'm an instinctual player and I'm raising 10:1 over a call.

Do those advocating a raise prefer calling/shoving over a 3bet or raise/folding?
06-28-2010 , 01:44 AM
I'd be raise/folding. I don't expect this villain to 3bet a draw here like ever
06-28-2010 , 02:15 AM
Ya like raising as well because it'll protect our hand while getting value from draws. There's a ton of bad river cards so this way it gives us a much better chance of getting a free showdown on the river.

everyone advocating raising (not that its bad) : have you considered the fact he might just fold a hand like 7x or 66 when we raise turn?

I'd have to ask if people consider the fact that he might just call with hands like 7x or a draw when we raise

I'd make it 18 and then check river behind often. If you just call, your decision will be hard on soo many river cards.
06-28-2010 , 06:17 AM
i would bet/fold $15 to charge draws.
06-28-2010 , 06:27 AM
$25 and check back river.
06-28-2010 , 06:33 AM
the good thing about raising the turn here is that the villain should check 90% of the rivers to us that allows us some control over the pot. if we'd just flat we might be left in a spot where calling the turn+river will cost more than raising the turn. So i'd definately raise with all the draws in the board and expect to get called by some random junk.

Your raising 10:1................ Wtf does that mean? Aint it easier to just say that you raise the turn?
06-29-2010 , 03:28 AM
Yeh - why would you balance your range 90/10 vs a 38/16 player's double barrels?

[nit]10:1 would actually be 91/9, not 90/10 (10/11 = 90.9%)[/nit]

As for the hand, I raise turn for value, to protect my hand, to charge draws, and to buy a free showdown.
06-29-2010 , 05:08 AM
I like raise/fold $15-22.

I don't really expect villain to ever 3 bet a draw here.
06-29-2010 , 05:17 AM
just raise turn and ck bk river
