So me and villain are sitting deep stacked me at around 300BB and him at around 250BB. Villian (fairly tight) is sb I am bb with 99. Folded around to villain who flat calls bb. I raise to 3 and he calls.
Flop is 7c9c5d
Villain checks I bet 4 villain raises 14, I raise all in hoping he has something big and slow played it pre flop (I am constantly protecting my blinds if he raises/limps) he calls, I am delighted he flops over 77. Ouch!
Unlucky for him he was so deep against another deep and got caught in this spot but did I play the all in too quick? If he hadn't have got a set as well he might not of paid off, should I have just 3bet to 50 and seen what happened from there to get more value if he say had an over pair?

Raise more pre, 4 - 4.5.
Shoving in 250bb over a 14bb raise is ridiculous obviously. The only way you get paid there is if you cooler him massively like you did. 48/70/jam or something is better

3bet shove with stack sizes is insane. Like drsmooth said, the money is only getting in the pot if you're way ahead or way behind.
