Tough spot with naked AA on the flop Tough spot with naked AA on the flop

12-16-2014 , 10:10 AM
Managed to get a decent chunk of my stack in with naked aces, in position against a MP who could have any four cards the way he plays preflop.

The flop comes and MP sticks his entire stack in. This is a strong move considering:

1. The flop is quite dry
2. There's only $0.81 in the side pot. He can't win the main pot of roughly $4 by bluffing.
3. MP's postflop aggression factor is only 1.3

So I thought and thought and thought until my hand timed out.

What do you guys think?

As usual, I will post the actual hands I was up against after I get some unbiased responses.

3b MP's open. 4b the minimum if you are sure BB will jam most/all of his 3b range (this allows you to 5b pot). 942 two-tone isn't dry. AA73 suited to the ace isn't "naked" -- it's roughly a 50th percentile AAxy.

The flop is a very clear ship. Worst case scenario, which takes really nitty assumptions to bring to fruition, you'll get it in with ~36% equity in the side pot and ~28% in the main pot[1], and you'll end up recouping your side pot losses and then some with your main pot equity share.

    [1] Final side pot = $9.70.
    $9.70*0.36 = $3.49.

    Final main pot = $3.83.
    $3.83*0.28 = $1.07.

    $3.49 + $1.07 = $4.56.

    $4.56 - $4.42 = +$0.14.

Of course, I expect you to almost always be doing better than this.

ok looks like i'm not getting any more replies (think Rei said it all) so i'll go ahead and post the full hand.

It turns out the villain i'm up against is just a bit crazy. For some reason as soon as there's a dry pot he wants to bluff out the player who's not all in with a mediocre hand. Saw him do the same all-in play in identical situation later with second pair, no draw!
