The swings are more ridiculous because when you get it in good with the nuts (like a nut str8 or nut flush) there will probably be someone in the pot with ~30%+ equity vs you. Don't have that happen as often in NL

It's more to do with there being bigger pots in plo- less folding in plo and so more left to chance... rather than the equity disparity (although the bigger pots are probably caused by the disparity anyway so my statement is likely false). The equity disparity is actually pretty insignificant relative to this.

Does variance= deviation? I think not (variance is a much broader term), it is clear that plo has a tonne more deviation but I don't relate that to swings by default. Swings are a product of skill and vpip

Variance=deviation^2 IIRC, so not the same, but highly correlating.

The better you make the worse players the more players you will have to play against and execute your edge vs them. You're essentially helping players move up slowly, increasing your player pool with players that arent quite as good as you. Sounds like a dream scenario for better players.....
