Am I overthinking these stakes? Is this a standard shove?
I do this a lot where I feel like im not realizing equity, so many players donk here on flop with top and bottom pair, J high flushdraw etc. and I'll fold like top two pair thinking they have a set.
been playing for years and still around 5BB/hr, a solid winner up to .50/1.
But hate grinding for hours sometimes and finishing break even when I see other stacks at like 500 BB calling pots sized bets on the flop with like bottom pair and a gutshot.... feels like I'm too nitty.

Honestly, it's hard to comment because from what I've seen players at this level are usually terrible. If you have zero stats on the player, just check/call the turn if you don't want to gii and evaluate river.

Well yeah. What are you trying to do potting the turn when the only draw completes? Are you hoping he will call you down with that Q5? Very unlikely.

Hard to say which player played it worse. Villain has like the worst possible hand to turn into a bluff.

Betting turn to fold top set when only gutshots got there is pretty awful. You need to get your hand to showdown one way or the other. You always have equity and a frequently crushing. Either check back, or bet-jam. I prefer bet-jam at these stakes.

Betting this hand when checked to is completely different vs betting OOP one of the worst possible cards to your range and actual hand. You are OOP, so you are not "checking back". You are starting with a check. It has nothing to do with being nitty or something, it has to do with how ranges interact on this board and what the value of your actual hand is.

How long have you been playing with him Have you played vs him before I assume not, which is fine. However, if you've been playing against him for a few orbits, you should have some idea of what his playing style is.

I dislike turn pot as well. Check is fine. Smaller bets, perhaps up to half pot at most can also be ok.

Against this type of fishy player normally bet/calling instead of bet/folding, expecting villain will give up on some rivers anyway unimproved.

Oh yeah 24 got there too. I tend to discount that hand though
