drose is alive and well, passing told me he gave up poker and has a job doing I believe some type of business thing (marketing maybe?) in Thailand. No idea about tres, he's been M.I.A. for quite a while now, hope he's doing well was a cool guy

That is a pretty insane and engaging old ep of the JRE I just listened to for 1st time yesterday btw. Third world is a wild + savage place. Some of the stats quoted on the ep are incredible and revolting: for example in Liberia something like 80% of women have been raped at one point in their lives, and a similar % have eaten human meat, including a lot of cannibalization between warring tribes.

Seems like a good list of movie recs, at least if you like obscure, unique, indie movies like I do. The only 2 movies on the list I've already seen, Jeff Who Lives at Home, and Sleepwalk With Me I thought were both excellent

When I heard this catchphrase cited by a Serbian turbofolk prog metal band Pero Defformero

in the song 'Gotičarka 2' ('Gothic Girl 2'), I thought they meant 'if there's no woman present in a man's life, he sheds no tears' (because I didn't look up Bob's original song; a harsher development of this is Stalin's notorious 'There's a person - there's a problem, no person - no problem'). To each their own.

Maybe in that context it indeed meant rather 'if you're a man, you should not cry' (there are also lyrics 'Sudbina je tvoja, brate' = 'It's your fate, brother'; his fate is being married to a vampire 'by a grave digger').

confirmed alive. still lurk every now and again here. just had a kid. i won the boy/girl lottery. just grinding life trying to be a good dad. have played poker once in last year. lost. hope everyone is doing well!
