For solid players the rake is w/o a doubt a bigger factor. It doesnt care about your Agame and Cgame, its -20bb/100 all the time regardless.

Because of the rake u can play winning poker over a pretty big sample and just be breaking even. But if you really crush hard and have rakeback the game is def grindable.

I started at PL2 and have steadily built my roll from $10 to $350. [/brag]

Games are so easy I didn't even notice how handicapped I was by the rake!

I recently deposited on Stars for the first time (original $10 was a transfer), and I'm earning a vg rate at PL25. I'm also taking shots at PL50, which I am not rolled for, but can still beat. I don't tilt but I can't really afford a downswing.

nanos are beatable, e.g. all micros are beatable.

my two cents is that the micro's ($10) are very easy to beat as tons of players are terrible players , but then rake starts to overwhelm gross win rate as players get better ($50)... and i haven't played higher much. i'd think the rake actually goes down faster than the skill goes up..... basically playing on $50 tables, i see leaks all over (too high VPIP but much of it is limped anyway) but i don't see god-awful players.

I would really like to see a graph of 25plo regs with a big samplesize 60k+ to see what their winrate is.would be really interesting.For sure there are a lot of bad players but the rake is huge and so is the variance. I think a lot of people overvalue the winrate at those levels or just running hot over a small samplesize,but I could be off.

but you realize that talking about people starting at PL25 and now at PL200 refers to the past. i mean, 3 years ago a fair number of people didn't even know the basic rules of omaha. other than the very lowest levels where you get crazies who don't care in the least about win rate the games have improved alot.

When you guys are calculating the rake are you taking the total rake from the table or just the rake you payed? For instance I played in 3166 hands of plo100 6max, and $492 was raked. So this yields 15.5bb/100 total rake. On the other hand, the rake I contributed was only $48 (I found this out by filtering for the hands I won). Therefore, my contributed rake was only 1.5bb/100. This is not hard to beat given the softness of the games.

I really don't understand how the shortstackers beat SS PLO (if they do at all) given the size of the rake. You have to outplay people by a huge margin to overcome those kinds of rakes.

I've played alot of 20LO on Ipoker so far, and I'm paying 22 bb/100 in rake, which imo is just sick. Should I just go straight to 50PLO or 100PLO?

you should at least be getting decent rb ar PLo20 at Ipoker, so just keep grinding that level, rake isnt significantly less at PLO50 from what i remember

Rake is of course beatable at PLO100 and at smaller stackes.

If i have a table full of fishes i would easily agree to pay 10% rake, just to make sure they stay.

Having a nice rakeback deal as well helps for sure. As a Supernova at stars, which is easy doable at PLO100 you get almost 40% rakeback, so this adds 4bb to your winrate at PLO100 (if rake is 12bb/100 Hands)
