Hi all, Just wanted to ask for some advice. I've switched over to PLO and I'm about 4BI up after about 1k hands. However, when I'm playing PLO I sort of feel like I'm playing like a robot, getting it in when I do have it, and folding when I don't. When I go back and look at my hands I realise their were no strategy or thinking behind my decisions. Is this just me being new to the game? Or do I need to more studying?

Thanks.

Below is an example of this. I feel like i'm really spewy. Why did I call that? When i'm actually playing i'm not thinking about my decisions i'm just playing in automatic mode.

No it isn't. Both calls are fine. You'll have >40% equity pre and >7.5% equity post.

It's not the actual decision that's a problem. It's just I didn't think about why I called. When I'm making decisions post-flop and pre-flop I feel like their's no thought behind them.

This has nothing to do with the actual game, but everything to do with your willingness to think coming into the hand.

EDIT: and, ofcourse, most of all - you being new to the game

Most of the time I don't think about decisions either - but that's only because the correct decision is really easy and automatic.

eg. I 3-bet with JT97ds and get 4bet. I'll instant flat 4-bet without thinking about it. Post flop I'll hit a piece and GII again without thinking about it - I know in both situations I'm getting the correct odds to call, so yeah there's just no thinking required

Can always think bout getting 4bet lite . in all honesty tho, the way it works is you think about basic decisions for as long as you need for them to become subconscious. Then while your subconscious mind takes over those basic decisions, your active mind has extra time to think about more complex analysis, and this is how we improve, gradually first preflop decisions, then most cbet|x/f|x/c|x/r spots OTF, then turn, and so on. And, normally, 4bet pots will fade away quite fast as there is not much thought involved in the first place. Cheers :F
