Haven't really played any PLO8 before so I apologize if this is standard/boring or so.

We have been playing about 30 min and one of the first hands villain limped A844ss first in on the button. I have 3bet before but each time my opponents folded preflop. So I decide to 3b ATT2ds, we have the A2 with decent high qualities.

On the flop, I pot and intend to call. I guess we could c/r against an aggro opponent but w/o reads I suppose I just get it in?

The turn sucks, but there's only a half pot bet left in his stack - just put it in?

Is this PLO or PLO8? Preflop is obv better in PLO8 but it's fine in PLO as well. Flop bet is standard in both games. Turn bet seems bad in both games, time to give up on the pot and hope to get to showdown.

i'm assuming people are saying that turn is spew because preflop + flop seem fine. but are people missing that villain started the hand with only $660? so he only has $327 left on the turn. if we check and he jams we'll be getting 3:1, so i highly doubt we can fold. so shouldn't we just put him in hopes of folding out a crappy low or something? also wouldn't some of the better 35** hands be raising flop?

id say turn has to be a chk fold. you can be drawing dead to the low and high fairly easily

We only need 25% on the turn, and im guessing he wont raise 53 unless its A53* since he limped A884 on the button. Against a range of {A53*, A3W*, A2W*} we have 18%. Are people folding high card diamonds on the turn (are they even calling the flop w/o low cards?)? On the turn im also guessing that he is folding ABB2 etc which is good for us (33% equity vs our hand)

Anyway, it seems that the turn is very close.

edit: feel free to fix my ranges if they are lolbad

yeah ppl saying easy turn fold are you seing the stacksizes? I'd think turn is really close but probably a shove...

How often is he calling the flop and then folding the turn? How often do we have the best hand here?

we don't need the best hand, as said before we need 25% equity against his range. If you think we have that against his range, you are going to have to call him anyways, and I can't believe check/calling would be better than shoving here. Obv if you think we have way less than that we can c/f

turn is a c/f almost all the time. No fold equity to speak of and we really don't have much equity at all after the 2 counterfeits our low.

turn is incredibly bad in plo8. he's virtually never folding + we virtually never have the best hand.

Pre and flop are fine surely.

I dont think the turns as bad as everyones making out, but id prob lean towards check folding.

I almost always fold when my low draw is counterfeited, but thought that the stack sizes etc made it close. Still think its close.

anyway i shoved and he called w 5542 and we rivered a jack ftw

so in this case we have 41% and it would be a horrible mistake to c/f the turn, whereas it can never really be that terrible to shove it imo

I want more plo8 discussion aswell and I would play as hero too. Getting him too fold A2xx/other hands some of the time gotta be huge, and we have decent high equity.

dont most A2xx hands just ship over the flop bet so they can get it in with ok equity before a A2 or high card hits turn?

That would be spew vs. a tight preflop 3 bettor like OP seems to be.
