The whole issue is that in Germany or Europe in general, nobody builds houses with 10 bathrooms at some Lake because the ground is WAY more expensive than in the US.

When you guys say "house is worth 4mil" do you mean if you were to buy it?

Im sure the fact that its the off season has a lot to do with the price. It could easily be 3x that during the summer. For example some buddies and I rent a house in Brigantine, NJ for 2500$ a month, the house is currently on sale for 1.7 million.. Why so cheap? Its the winter in a city that is largely just a beach town. The house goes for 2500$ a week during the summer. At the same time I also rent a one bedroom apartment in Annapolis, MD for 1600$ a month. Obviously location and seasonal houses make the value of rent change drastically.

You're right and I see the same thing happening when I'm travelling with "pokerfriends". I mean we're all pretty young and we don't need to stay at 5 star hotels and fly in the buisness class
In 2010 I was travelling for around 5 1/2 month all together and I spent a total of 50-60k euro for the whole year(I know it's a lot for a normal income), but a friend of mine was travelling for only 4 month and spent for the year 160k euro.
I think in a few years when we are probably not winning anymore, we are going to regret spending that much money on unnecessary stuff. The only thing I kept being stupid is going out: I spend on a normal evening between 100-300 euros and that's 6-8 times/month

And I don't think, that renting a house for 5k/month that is worth 4 mill is not going to work out.
I'm searching to buy a flat in vienna for a couple of month. You're paying 4-7000 euros/m2 and if you want to rent it it is 10-15 euros/m2/month
