Quadrophobia alone is worth a whole community

Are you looking for a country to emigrate to? What's wrong with Brazil?

If so, there's a Maltese grindhouse ad posted by another (yet lonely) PLO player

If it doesn't suit you, read the Malta chatter thread starting from the end and try to spot familiar names on the way. I'm a bit too lazy to do it.

Edit: z0fman has also moved there from Greece and used to play PLO but, alas for you, now specialises in MTTs.

Thnx. Those are good threads for knowledge about malta and its players. And yes cardquant would be a great neighbour.

As for myself i am in the north of brasil now here are almost no pokerplayers. Certainly no plo.

Plus the worst of all is really bad internet. terrible connections making it very difficult to play most mtts and any significant cashgame

On top of this energy breaks happen 3 to 5 times a week in the whole region.... as @ the moment of this writing !

I need to move asap.
thinking of rio de janeiro in the south. Which must have better conditions or go back to europe with malta as the poker paradise island.

Malta seems great if there is a plo pokercommunity

You are seriously the best poster on 2+2 right now Paulo. Please never change.

The other Brazilian PLO players don't complain about electricity - they live in other regions (ubermonk - somewhere on the southern coast, I don't remember where, and it's quite cheap there). Most probably all your problems are solved by just moving to southern region in Brazil.

Edit: the below rant applies to non-EU citizens like me, Paulo still is holding a Dutch passport so he's welcome to live permanently in Schengen countries

But in case you're still positive about emigration, please mind that 1) poker winnings are theoretically taxed at 15-35% in Malta, unlike in many tax-free EU countries, 2) Malta is in the Schengen area, as it allows non-residents to stay only for 90 days out of every 180 days, and it's hard to become a resident as a non-European national - basically, one has to either have quite big income or own expensive property.

So you'll likely have to be an 'eternal traveller' with at least two countries in rotation (at least one being non-Schengen) until you earn enough money to buy solid property.

A decent English-speaking non-Schengen country for a 90-day stay is Ireland. I'm sure bompter will be glad to send you an official invitation letter.

In case you wish to meet a poker community, there's a Portuguese-speaking territory packed by sharks, many of whom are decent at PLO. Do you understand which one I mean? Macau, obv It will also allow you a 90-day stay. Costs of living can be compared at Numbeo, say, Sliema vs Macau or Sliema vs Dublin.

If you wish to continue discussing this topic with me, you're welcome to do so on Skype. Alternatively (and better), express your wishes in the dedicated 'looking for a poker house' thread in the Travel forum.

Great info. Thnx.

Yes i also have a dutch passport so Malta living is possible. Macau i never thought off. Nice idea.
But this move may be better to play highstakes?

The south of brasil seems to have better conditions. I dont know any brasilian plo players. Except for a few highstakes players. If you know some please tell me.
Ill try to find them.

But malta may be just as good or better since i speak better english them portuguese...

Amd with so many pokerpros from all countries packed together and cheap living it has to be great.

Anyway ill go posting for a PLO pokerhouse.
