Well, the last one was pretty dull, but that royal flush hand definitely belongs. Who the **** flats a royal? It's made even better by the fact that OP had a hand worth calling with.

What about this hand! It was live so I will give vaguenesssesess.

basically 7 handed table 2-2 plo, limp raise call everyone else folds. (stacks dont really matter probs around 150 effective)

Flop A A 3

bet (from preflop raiser) call

Turn 7

check check

River 3
preflop raiser says "so if i got an ace i have a full house?" chat about you have to use 2 cards then..

check check

preflop raiser shows AK and then shows A6 to go with it......says he didnt know he had that lol. best part though! other player shows 733x, and they both check turn and river!
IT was crazy!

AND! my first ever live tourny, lasted around 20 hands, and what a nice way to go out, yep KK v AA lol, obv rigged. Also played plo tourny, first hand player calls down with Asxxx on 4 spade board and thinks he has a flush, then later calls TTTh3h to a preflop raise and calls down on K259K board to bets on flop and turn....he came 2nd, definitely rogged!

for whatever reason people really really really really really really want to table their royal flushes. just clicking "show hand" doesn't do it for them. at least at foxwoods you get a cheesy looking 70's poker room jacket.

Yeah 9.5 was the line. I was practically racing to bet it. Celts haven't lost but a handful of games by double digits all year. Tonight's line is a bit more fair at 7.

I hope they beat their ass silly, but I read a disturbing note at Celticsblog about how Doc said TA was gonna see some time at point guard. I had a stroke for about 5 minutes.

It's unclear what we're gonna get from Rondo tonight but I bet KG steps up in a big way. Dude never has 3 bad shooting games in a row.

for whatever reason i've always loved Tony Allen, and honestly, although he has the potential to suck tonight if he sees time, he also has the potential to go off like Powe did in game 2. and he's a much better option than an ineffective injured rondo imo.

before allen's knee injury from what I can remember, he was the number 3 scorer on the team, granted they weren't that good. He can score and is very explosive, but he lacks in defense in some possessions, which scares me more. hopefully he gets like 7 shots from LA double teaming KG, and he can get some open looks.

also for the love of god can the lakers please lose tonight, so I can stop listening to these ******ed LA fans, god I hate living in LA when the Lakers are winning.

The trouble with Tony Allen right now is that he's beyond rusty and you're trusting him to run the point in the NBA Finals. When he ran the point for spots this year he was an unmitigated disaster, dribbling the ball off his foot, careening into the lane and bouncing the ball off his knee, etc. He's a good passer from the 2 guard spot and particularly off drive and kick, but he can't be trusted to bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense.

I think Rondo is going to be better than 50% anyway. No more Cassell, more Eddie House, and we'll be OK.

tl;dr:

Update on the jbird bankroll challenge (look at **** thread from March or April -- started with $0 in my account trying to grind from $0 back up to the 1/2 games):

I have been running smooth the past week or so after going through about a 2 week stretch of running terribly. I have also started to throw in a few $20 or $30 HUPLO SnG's towards the end of my winning days (to make it a relative big win of a day for my roll vs. just an OK win). Here is a graph since 5/15:

Here are my MTT and SnG results:

There was a hiccup with my PTO before 5/15, and it missed a ton of hands, but that was when One1 and I had our 1k HU match where I ran 6 BI below expectation and some other garbage, so the actual cash game winnings since 4/01/08 are at about $400ish.

Soooooooooo why the post? Well, I hit my first 'step' goal of $1,000. It took a bit longer than I expected time-wise, but I'm here nonetheless. $1k isn't anything spectacular, but I must admit, turning $0 into $1000 in just a couple of months feels pretty damn good.

It has been a huge pain in the ass and very annoying at times, but that was to be expected. I'm hoping and thinking the worst of the microgrinding is over and I can move through .25/.50 rather quickly and put a bunch of hands in at .5/1 and adopt a 'normal' bankroll strategy again at that level and get to $10k before moving up to 1/2 again.

It is obviously nice to have a good 'real life' job outside of poker so I haven't had to worry (nor do I have to in the future) about cashing out for bills and expenses. In the past I haven't had this luxury which has lead me to take play a bit underrolled. I don't plan on cashing any money out until I get to $10k. At that point I'll probably adopt a regular cashout plan.

Next "step" goal is $3k, when I'll make the jump back to .5/1. Hopefully no doomswitch in my future after this semi-brag post.

You definitely run into quads much more often that you will in HE, but for 100bb top boat is the effective nuts. Especially at PLO50 where most players aren't thinking beyond the first level. Unlucky.

Amusing stuff one hears at the tables. Today I found out that I was a worse fish alive when I stacked one guy twice, yet he decided to leave instead of playing mega fish who was 300bb deep
