How do you know he had air in that other pot when he folded to your shove?

Anyway, given that he's barreled and you've raised and he's folded, I think he would do the same in this spot and barrel if he had a big hand so when he checks and you bet weakish he's gonna be having a lot of hands you beat. Call.

turn bet vs a range of [3xxx, air] is bad imo

Well, I would be 3betting this flop with air sometimes too so when he calls I think his range is more 3x, Qx, pocket pairs and he just folds or 4bets air on the flop. I dunno though -- I haven't seen many people flat air in that spot but that doesn't mean people don't do it.

you 3bet the flop and bet turn, and he still shoves. it sucks but this is a clear fold imo. in his eyes, you have a 3 soo often.

^^ I don't mind just giving up on turn. I don't think you're going to get very many folds on the turn since he'll often have two pair/ pair + straight draw / flush draw that will peel in addition to some straights that'll probably shove. The river is going to bring a flush or pair the board too often and you'll have to blindly bet hoping he didn't make his hand or just give up.

jimmyhat - If i bet here it would be a lot less than pot, if he somehow has a 2 then he's sticking it in no matter what, if he has any sort of draw on the turn we want him to come along really.

fullcontact
hand 1 - with our bd's yea i'm shipping here too.
hand 2 - I would bet a lot less and fold to a shove / give up vs a call. No one is bluff raising here and you have so little equity vs any hand he wants to continue with.
hand 3 - With the hearts there i fold to the pot, without them i'd ship.

CompEng: yes, very. Your betsize will often induce him to check/ship his entire continuing range with these stacks.

Roy: why bet the turn? To accomplish what?

I suppose since if I am 3betting the flop with air I would barrel the turn small to try and pick up the pot if he had a queen or something.

I tank-called the hand and he showed Q885 but I did feel like it was an incorrect call given the information I had at the time.

Is this always a call? UTG insta shoved on the flop, I was already tilted from the session earlier, cursed at the flop and snapfolded without giving it any kind of thought. I've been vomiting all night since, going back and forth in my mind about whether my fold was hideous, just questionable or even a break even play. If only that ass had shipped it preflop... FWIW I woulda had 65% on the flop
