Quick advert for softness of plo rounds in 8 game! I won't mind more plo specialists in the mix while you learn other games.

Also, my read was not clear on both players aside from some donkishness in only a few rounds and obv tendencies matter a ton but where would stacks have to be for both players for you to get it in on flop?

I observed this hand that made me think: http://www.highstakesdb.com/view-han...GameID=1221370

On the river I would normally check hoping to induce. Is betting a better line (no pun intended)?

those are spot where I'm also totally lost.
you have to have good reads to know what to do. The prob is, that I get into such a spot very rarely, so generating reads is pretty hard...

is there a way to play such hands perfect in a vacuum from a game theoretic point?

I dont think that playing the hand perfect from a game theory perspective is important here. I could totally be wrong, but it seems like in a spot like this where you are not getting exploited because you will realize your equity one way or another, its now up to you to figure out the best way to exploit your opponent, so you should ask yourself; will he call incorrectly or bluff incorrectly more often?

Saw this hand on HSDB, isildur folds river after putting 4/5 stack in. Can his play ever be good there with any hands? Or did they put it on the site wrong or something?

Villain is a Finnish TAG. No history. Do you think this is a winning play given ppls barreling tendencies these days? Note that villain has only 50bbs.

16.6

are you sure? i have been playing my entire life thinking ''i have 5:1 odds. i have 20%''

example: i have $1k stack and 20% equity. theres $4k in the pot, someone go all in, i have 20% and 1k left. if i call, its 0ev.

right or wrong?

So 4k + opponents 1k + your 1k = 6k. If you have 20% eq your ev is 6k*0.2 = 1.2k. Call is +200 vs fold.

Ok I'll bite on the obvious level I'm not certain is a level...

You put 1k at risk and if you win you have a 6k stack yes? That means you are risking 1k in order to gain a 6k stack... the 1k you put in isn't a sunk cost, it's fully recovered if you win the pot.

insyder, lets see after i learn this stuff if i can beat you. becareful, thats my goal at 2013: make a hole at alexkp and insyder bankrolls. rape both bankrrolls.

i used to think plo wasn't too much a math game, but for sure has lots of math involved... waaaaay more than nlhe. how sick this game is, has math and its fun. lol

to be fair you can still be a pretty decent winner at midstakes without knowing much at all about the maths of poker.

Nowadays math is so important. Back then esp like urubu said NL HU you don't really needed it, most HU players back then were feel players where you knew you are good or not in a specific spot. Those were the good days when people had more gamble than all the **** math and ranges.
