play lower and find exciting new hobbies for your spare time?

i have found that the extremeties of my emotions wrt poker generally happen when I have nothing else to do at that point in time.

Well losing always feels worse than winning feels good.

Dropping down stakes is alright, but I notice that if I play stakes where the money doesn't effect me I don't even give a **** and play really bad. There is no thrill involved so I feel bored fairly quickly. The best days were those when I first time reached 100k roll, first time won a pot at 5/10, then 10/20, first 10k pot, etc. Most of us are stuck, can't really move up anymore without getting killed or being worried about busting roll or going on huge downer. Also winning the huge amounts you can lose at 50/100 at lower stakes takes wayyyy longer.

I really wonder how people can treat poker like a job and just grind 5/10 shortstacked or whatever 20 tables 5 hours/day.

Most people over 22 grind out a job but for 8 hours and for way less money.

Kirby you should definitely get some mental game coaching and get to the bottom of why you're tilting. At the very least read Mental Game of Poker and spend some serious time thinking about what's going wrong in your mental game and some steps to fix it. You're so attached to every single pot individually and need to get into the mindset that you will lose a 65/35 35% (or a lot more in the short run) of the time! There's nothing you can do to affect your past results or EV so try to push it out of your mind as much as possible.

Your game (and mental health) will really suffer if you approach every session by opening up a bunch of tables and thinking, "ok how are these idiots going to **** me today."

Also I'd recommend tightening up a bit.

what are the odds of losing 6 str8 all ins with 90%+ ev?

last one got in with top set vs naked over-pair turn paired bottom card so 95% with 1 to come and i called my shot to gf "here comes the 2 outer" bink.

wish i could just believe merge hated me personally and was rigging it, rather then having to conclude its god who hates me.

assuming you were 93% each time, the odds of losing 6 in a row are 00.0000117649%

I refuse to believe anyone that plays poker has got to the stage where the results are truly meaningless to them because we're all human after all. Buying my flat did give me a ton of emotional stability but at the same time I get the hunger to still be playing the higher games when they run. Was the right choice for me though.

this discussion about ''play big games or grind mid/small games w/o stress'' is very very interesting to me.

Hehe, me too. My game plan goes from **** it gambol, to lets gind 0,5-1 zoom for 10k a month without stress like every two months :/)

Joeri, if you only get it in with the nuts, thats not gamble

I agree what gavz is saying, we are all human. Getting money on the side is good and I don't really have to worry about anything even if I bust my online roll BUT the problem is that what do we do then? Those who are in the early 20s can easily take a new path, but if you are 30+, you depend on it much more

have you actually done this?

pretty sure less than 5% of the zoom100 player pool is winning money at the tables (lol rake), and those who ARE winning, have very small w/r.

i've yet to meet anyone who has posted anything bragworthy wrt zoom 100... tho i guess if you are a unicorn (someone crushing 100zoom) then you wouldn't want to share that info o_0

@insyder, hehe i guess you where referring o the tjqk ss hand wasn't happy with it myself, but was sitting with 50% of my online roll at the table... I was calling though if you pushed riv. I did dry 4bet kk22 100bb deep before you entered though, so gambol was there

@clayton, never did that. But with sne rakeback and 1-2bb/100 ; 10k a month should be realistic, right?
