Interesting hand here... UTG raise, CO 3bet and I have AA87 ss on the button. UTG is short stacked so he should 4bet all in (or so I think at least). This 4bet will still allow me to raise pot. I have an interesting to choice to flat the 3bet and hide my hand or 4bet myself. I decide to flat the 3bet hoping I'm right which would cause the CO to either cold call the UTG 4bet or 5bet all in and that's the money I really want. Is this a good solid line of thinking or should I just 4bet myself?

Note: I'm a pretty new player, so take with a grain of salt.

TLDR: 4-betting likely leads to heads-up scenario with SPR of 1.4 on flop. If this is short enough stack to shove most turns, then 4-betting is probably good. If not, then maybe plan to flat-call and 6-bet UTG raise is better.

Full post:

I'm not sure of the right answer, but I think the resulting stack-to-pot ratios of the different options can help us:

If you pot-sized 4-bet and UTG folds and CO calls (which seems like most likely scenario), there will be $7.65 in the pot on the flop and you'll have $10.85 left in your stack. That's an SPR of 1.4. With an SPR of 1 I think we can shove almost any flop when we're heads up with Aces. I think 1.4 might be low enough to shove most flops, which if true argues for not being cute and just 4-betting, but I'm not sure.

Also, if you call on button, I feel like that might make it more likely for UTG to also just call (as opposed to them being more likely to reraise if they're only facing CO). Your call means UTG is facing stronger range of hands, and they can see flop and fold more justifiably with a short stack in multiway pot.

How do you know UTG will reraise?

I'd just 4b. Maybe flat some of the strongest ones.

I would call this combo pre as a default at 100bb effective. With one shorty in the mix it is tempting to go for the 4bet. The less confident you are in your postflop play, in particular vs CO, the more inclined I would be to raise.

I wonder whether flipping the stacks between villains, so deep player is UTG and shorty is in CO would make us more likely to raise rather than call. I think we would like UTG to fold more of his range in that situation rather than call, but either way we still get to play IP and shorty will be committed to gii on the flop if he doesn't raise again pre.
