Getting crushed.... Getting crushed....

Had a bad night...Dropped +6 buyins at $.5/$1. Seem to be getting coolered a lot, though I also my pEV luck was -264.

Heres my biggest lost hand. Should I just fold this flop heads up?

Almost every session of PLO I play (4 tables, ~1k hands) involves me winning or losing more than 5 buyins.

I've heard so much about the variance of this game, and I guess I saw it last night a bit. What I hadn't read about is how it seems to just sneak up on you.

Of course it's easier said than done, but don't play with less than about 40 buy-ins to your name (some would say 100)... and set a stop-loss for each session so you quit if you lose say 2 or 3 buy-ins, because you don't play your best when you're losing, even if it's just to coolers and bad beats. For the last buy-in if you really don't want to quit but you're approaching your stop-loss, either buy in short or drop down stakes. Even if I've been losing the previous day I sometimes don't play my best because I'll still be tilted, or start playing scared money, so it's a good idea to play an hour or so in a lower stakes game, win a bit at that and get your confidence back before moving back to your normal stakes. It feels like a different game and there's not so much pressure, so the negative psychology doesn't carry over.

This.

Which brings me to this question:
I'm assuming the # of hands needed to establish a winrate is extremely large.

However, I have no idea how large it is.

Glad to here this is standard. A corollary to this theorem is that when I have a losing PLO session, I lose the most at my juiciest table.

I only play PLO 5 and the tables are really soft yet I got totally slammed in the last 24 hours. Down $25. After 3 days of careful grinding I get into several spots that seemed to require shoving and wound up losing my stack 5 times.

Yupp, losing 6 BI is not more than an average bad session.
At least if you play many tables. I have been 9-tabling sh lately.
