Hello Sharks,

In an online 6 max format with others player playing mostly 100 bb and some others short, what stacksizes would you prefer to play- 10bb, 20bb, 30bb, or 50bb?

Also what adaptions would you make in terms of preflop play regarding different starting stacks? The shorter the tigther RFI and more value heavy 3b?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Thank you,

Foldsharp

It depends, optimal stack size is a function of your opponent's skill levels and their stack sizes.

I will short stack if I'm playing in a big game where there are a few weak opponents where I might not normally be rolled or comfortable jamming 100+BB. It's an exception where I almost always try to be the deepest player.

When I short stack I usually go as low as it lets me. Advantage here is you can get it all in with multiple players and they later fold so they don't get to realize their equity on you.

Downside is you are winning smaller pots and pay a bigger % of rake. Good thing you can do is get a hand with decent equity, and when there is a lot of action jam it in, and bigger stacks have to worry about each other and you have a ton of dead money. Even if you are only 40% to win, you got the odds.

Buy in short, sit to the right of the action and squeeze light. Lots of spots to GII ++

that's right, the short stack will often get an extra edge when he's already shoving and the big guys are still fighting for the pot. Preflopper will help you to understand how exactly the preflop strategy changes depending on the stack
