"Pot-Limit Omaha Poker" by Jeff Hwang
this is the only omaha book i've read so far, so i can't compare it to any other books out there. but it really helped me get started.

All omaha books are written by old nits, and the advice doesn't really apply to current online PLO. Don't read Jeff Hwang's book

I think training videos are the best to help you learn some basic fundamentals, but I think posting and reading on 2+2 is better for helping you understand the game.

is there anywhere which outlines all the important odds? ive tried google but nothing great so far. stuff like if i have a fd+pair vs monster straight draw etc etc.

currently i am only using what i imagine it to be, which isnt ideal at all, though so often it is impossible to know what they have.

many thanks if you can help.

Secrets of Professional Omaha by Rolf Slotboom

Is a great book to get you started with outlines of simple strat and good odds calculations. The only draw back I find with this book is that the majority of it is written with respect to full ring games which are becoing less and less common. I found it extremely(!) usefulin developing my game.

Sammy Farha's book isn't bad either (Farha on omaha).

I don't rate either of the sections is the super system book very much

Part of the reasons the books all describe a nit-like style is that it is probably the safest style for someone new to the game to be playing.

i think farhas book is really bad. it seems like he put together some random hands he remembered at the time and commented on them. also it seems like the plays he uses only work against top competition and/or with very specific history. you didn't say if you are interested in PLO or some other omaha, farhas book had a little bit about other omaha games.

slotbooms book i didnt like either. he writes a lot about short stacking which doesn't really help you to learn the game imo.

i did like hwangs book a lot. even though the style he describes is much to nitty for shorthanded online games he teaches the basics very well. the book is clearly structured, he classifies starting hands very well, shows some traps for beginners and lists common odds iirc.

i think hwang is by far the best book to learn the basics of PLO, and if you dont play shorthanded im pretty sure applying the basic concepts from the book and being patient makes you an instant winner on microstakes.

I always recommend a new player start with Bob Ciaffone's "Omaha Poker," and then read Jeff Hwang's book. "Omaha Poker" will give you the "big picture" of how to approach PLO without having to read 300 pages, and Hwang's book will go into greater detail of the game.

Slotboom's book is mostly about short-stacking, and although it's an excellent book, I think you will get more value out of reading Ciaffone's book, and then Hwang's book. When you are first learning PLO, the key is to avoid making big expensive mistakes, and both books will teach you what you need to know to accomplish that goal.

There aren't any books out that are directly applicable to online 6-Max PLO, but there are a few resources in the works.

Farha's book is much better than most people give him credit for, but it's not written for someone trying to learn PLO. His book gives you a look at the thought processes used by an exceptional high-stakes player with many years of experience. you will appreciate Farha's book more after you have quite a bit of experience, and start playing higher limits.

I read both in the order you recommend.

Retrospectively imo i could have gone for Jeff's book only, i do not recall
reading much else in Bob's book which Jeff didn't mention. Yet Bob's book
is a good read and it's only 10 EUR at amazon.

just use two dimes(or pro poker tools) you can play with how two hands match up and its better than knowing the odds you need to make your flush because especially in Omaha it will not be important if the board pairs etc

start with Ciaffone and proceed from there. all his books are well-written and very easy to read and have no unnessary trash talk.
