Hey all, i've been lurking on these forums for a while but looking to contribute more in the future.

I've been playing some of the shallow tables on stars and they seem like a good way to generate VPPs and also learn more of the math behind the game. However, they seem unbeatable due to the rake (especially at < plo100, which is what i've always assumed), but i know there are some of you who have beaten the games over a decent sample.

The main problem i have is that i'm losing way too much in non-SD because i can't steal as light (unless i want 4 callers), can't profitably barrel a lot of turns, etc. It's gotten to the point where i don't know if opening decent aces is even a great strategy, and tightening up isn't a sure way to profit because equities run so close together and i'll bleed away chips every orbit. I was wondering if anyone has any specific strategy tips or could show me what their stats look like.

inb4 play full stacked tables fish, not another one of these threads, shallow is for noobs, etc.

I think tigher IS better for these games. Equities don't run THAT close together, and people make lots of mistakes preflop, calling raises and threebets with hands like 4479 trying to hit sets, etc.

You shouldn't be trying to steal much in this game, that's a holdem mentality. PLO preflop play is more about either exploiting edges or creating favorable postflop scenarios. If you raise and get 4 callers, and you're playing tight, you're usually happy because you've created a big pot with lots of leverage for a small portion of your stack with a hand that will flop nut hands and draws.

agree with donger, plo cash isnt about stealing blinds unless your in tourney

i also think it's hard to defend blinds being OOP and with no room to maneuver. what do you guys do to combat this? and do you limp more in EP with hands you would typically open in a 100bb game? it seems playing ~20/15 is about right?

You should always expect negative non-sd winning when playing these games. Most players play them for their rakeback benefits because win rates arent huge given the huge amount of variance involved. I played these games for a long time and they just get extremely dull after a while
