Right after I start thinking my Ace high might have been good because i cant see him just calling with any type of made hand + draw. So who would bet ace high for value on turn
Don't know if its correct or not but I always just ship the turn. There is always the off chance villian has a weaker draw and A high is good as you mentioned. Also, when we check its going to be harder to get paid off when the straight hits and we then shove. When it blanks off villian can pretty much put us on a missed draw and shove anything as we would never check back a made hand that we would raise the flop with.
I just remembered a spot like this with a grinder who just called my 4 bet for half r stacks to see if the board didnt pair on turn then check called with a wrap
if you are up against a callstation that never folds or someone that is never folding there after flatting the flop with those stack sizes then I like checking on turn. you save money when you miss. If you could make closer to a psb on turn and actually have some fe then barreling is std. Worst case scenario with the line of checking the turn is that villian bets you off same hand on river.
