Villain is very aggressive preflop and has popped me a few times already. A little bit earlier he three bet my button open from the BB and then folded to my four bet, 100 bb stacks.

Against a passive opponent I am fine with just folding this to his three bet, but against an aggressive villain things change. I have played a few hands with him and he strikes me as the guy who would rather three bet double suited trash than ****ty aces.

Pre Flop: ($15.00) Hero is CO with Q Q 6 8
1 fold, Hero raises to $30, BTN raises to $90, 2 folds, Hero raises to $285

Hand two is approx 10 minutes after hand one. Same villain. I guess the fact that I four bet him in the first hand makes him less likely to three bet here. He is a regular though so I suppose he does some leveling here. Meh, I guess I have been running a little bit hot in these situations which may skew my judgement of his range here.

I just dont get girls.

I think hand 1 is pretty bad. Hand 2 I really don't see why you are so against just seeing a flop? It's $60 more with another 100BB+ behind and you've got a pretty decent hand.

how did hand 1 play out? he ended up folding? i believe you should definitely 4 bet on hand 2, you have a pretty strong hand

I think this applies to both hands. The tougher the opponent the more likely I am to fold.

No man. I think I even prefer hand 1 to hand 2 because of the suit (to be holding, not to be 3betting with.. you shouldn't 3bet either). It's close anyway.

In Hand 2, are we getting it in on a J 6 5 if we just call his raise preflop?

I fear folding the best hand if I just call his raise preflop. Monotone boards will suck, boards like 765 or just an ace and I'm gonna have to fold.

hand 1 fold > call (close though) >> raise

hand 2 call >> raise > fold

imo

1.) no
2.) i think you need to lose this fear of folding the best hand. sometimes when someone has position on you, you're going to get outplayed a fair amount of the time, but that doesn't mean it won't be profitable to continue.

yeah the power of position is kinda silly in these spots
doesn't matter how big of a drooler you have in position vs you, he is going to own you just by being aggressive
the wider he 3bets - the more you should tighten up your open range and fold to his 3bets (with the trashier part of your now tighter range)

hand 1 I probably call but close between that and folding

hand 2 easy call

Can someone explain to me why hand 2 is an easy call and hand 1 is probably a fold? How does hand 2 play any better postflop? Position/effective stacks are identical to it's gotta be purely about the hand.

I used to way overvalue these hands as well. But KQQT no suits is not a very strong hand and is in the top 10% of hands. Some people hate holdem analogies for PLO but a hand in the top 10% in holdem is QTs, A9s, AJo, 88. Imagine if this were holdem and you were 3 bet by an aggressive button would you be looking to 4 bet get it in with those hands?

I know some hate holdem analogies to PLO so go easy on me!

hand #2 works as a whole while hand #1 is like having QQ AND 86o in holdem (youre not alone brian)
