When the non-landed refer to me as "Your Majestic Excellency," I always detect a passive aggressive undertone, and make doubly sure to rap their knuckles with my cane.

In what context? I'm married, just fyi, so I don't have as much chance as I'd like to undermine my friends by calling them "man" after they've butthurt me by exponentially reducing my chances of being laid, or whatever ******ed situation you're trying and failing to describe.

Can't use "how's it going". That's too casual and can be seen as demeaning, but that's another thread.

"How are you?" doesn't work, either, b/c the pronoun "you" is impersonal and belittles him.

Where does "dude" fall in the spectrum?

People who use big guy, sport, or chief in anything other than a joke all need their tongues torn out.

Not once but repeatedly

Even once is majorly disrespectful IMO
Mate, you really need to relax.

Doesn't this only happen in movies when father and son are playing catch?

Full name including suffix followed by of ____ county

If we are real tight I won't include the occupation of their first known ancestor

Slightly off topic, but it always bugs me when people call me 'sir.' From someone younger than me it makes me feel embarrassingly old (I'm 27). And when its someone older than me I can just feel the white privilege oozing through my veins.

Bah! Quisling. Uppity proles should get both barrels of grandfather's Purdey - it's the only language they understand. Hanging's too good for 'em.

that's just the sad realization that you're getting 'old'--you're still at the age(27 is definitely a bit too young..but not far off!!)where it's(or should be) OMG you little punk do you realize i'm banging more chics, doing more drugs, making more money etc...than you ever will. if not, condolences champ!

Holy ****! at work I use a 10% name, 80% bud, 7% buddy, 3% chip/skippy/biff/etc mix. Is it true that this makes me a total jag? What if I come off as a condescending douche, but everyone knows I'm a nice guy that respects them?

Bud is fine but please stop calling adults buddy.

ya i'd say if you're calling people buddy, chip, skippy and biff in 10% of interactions LOL it might be time to reevaluate your life.

I'll try to cut out the buddy and maybe chip. Skippy and Biff I keep.

If it's an American saying it I think it can be either disrespectful or used as a device to indicate extreme seriousness of a sentence.
