Most people really misunderstand this concept. The great part is they misunderstand both sides. Either saying caffeine is terrible for you or saying that the other crap is good for you. You seem to be real educated on this so probably shouldn't have even responded.. the caffeine debate is a personal pet peeve of mine so I always assume people are being ignorant about it.

do you guys have links to definitive studies? everything ive ever seen and the first few results from googling it all say that there may be a mild correlation between caffeine and weight loss but nothing definitive or really very helpful.

the end of every study pretty much just says something like 'we think that it could help but we're not very sure and it's probably not very much if it in fact does help'.

On phone but I referenced some journal articles earlier and I'm in the process of becoming a RD now and basically everyone in the field is beginning to accept it. If nothing else its an appetite suppressant, but most feel it does more than just that

This thread has motivated me to lose the last 10lbs I put on at my desk job + recent vacation. No more bagels or ice cream.

Less drinking is probably the real key. Ftmfl.

Anyone else want to post a log in here so I'm not alone? Or I can just stop posting them if this thread wants to die.

Very full today, much better than yesterday- even if I was robbed of my omelet.

Tomorrow will definitely be an omelet day, we have some leftover corn so [El D] I'm thinking:

Corn
Onion
Green or Red Bell
Ham
Cheddar

Might substitute bacon for the ham, mmm bacon.

sure i'll post what i did yesterday. and will note today as well.

yesterday was prob one of the best net calorie days in a lonnnggg. time

intake:
- green tea = 0 cal.
- 2egg + 1 slice american cheese breakfast sandwich (i made it) = 460cal
- spinach and chickpea salad = 450cal
- sauteed spinach w/ garlic (i use just a little Pam for cooking) = 60 cal
- 3 eggs snack = 240 cal
- fresh veggie juice i made at home: 2 tomatoes, 8 celery stalks, lemon juice (no idea what these are. i've been counting them as like 50ish)
- another 3 egg snack = 240 cal
- canned mixed veggies (no salt added) snack = 140 cal

total intake = 1630

exercise:
- 1 hour roller hockey in the 90degree sun from 10am-12pm (~400-500 calories). i'm very "out of shape" so every 4-5 minutes on the ice i had to take a 4-5 minute rest. i put out of shape in quotation marks b/c i am aware this is still very difficult to do for most people, even those in good shape since roller hockey is a constantly moving physical game requiring a ****ton of exertion constantly. so some people would say i'm in good shape but the fact this is so incredibly hard for me breathing-wise is hard to handle for me.

- this was my first 2-a-day in years and was my league roller hockey team's first game at 8pm. it's a full size rink (nhl hockey rink size) so it's 5 on 5 w/ a goalie...and we only had 5 skaters (out of 10) show up to the first game. needless to say i was dying. 3 15 minute periods but this is just an insane workout (akin to p90x or worse i'd guess) and i almost puked 3-4 times. i have no idea what this was calorie-wise so let's say 600ish calories?

i came home, showered, ate the eggs and the veggies and just passed out. slept SO hard for 6ish hours and now am up at 5am and can't go back to sleep lol.

weight = i have no idea what i weigh right now as i promised myself no getting on the scale for a week or so. i am prob around 180ish, maybe 182-3 and goal is 165. other goal is not feeling like i'm dying while playing my 2nd favorite sport (and thus also training for my #1 favorite sport-skiing). i'd be really depressed about the nearly puking thig if i weren't so busy enjoying the **** out of every minute of it

yeota,

I read and like the logs. My main concern for you would be that you are not eating enough. If you're happy and not feeling too hungry/miserable, then great. But don't sweat eating an extra snack or two on those low cal days.

i think most people would react to that and say "yea but he's losing more weight on those days"; however, this is a really good point.

the documentary (on part 3 now, thanks sgt lol) spends some time talking about the importance of comfort with lifestyle changes and if it FEELS like a diet, probability of success (defined both as loss and management) falls.

so yea, eat to where you are comfortable and just stick to your calorie "budget"

amazon prime has streaming movies/tv. very similar to netflix, it is $80 for a year, but you get free 2 day shipping on most orders from amazon, are reduced next day shipping.

Some of these diets seemed doomed to fail due to starvation. Congrats on beginning to eat right though.

Yeah, I know. Like yesterday I just wasn't hungry. I woke up, ate the salmon burger.

Couple hours later I had to go umpire a game, so left at 4PM and had the granola bar on the way. I also packed 3/4 cup of peanuts which I planned to snack on during the game (game was at 5PM, so roughly 5-8, WOAT timing). It was hot as **** and I barely managed to eat any of the nuts while drinking my entire gallon of water.

Then I came home 9PM, and made my seafood taco/burrito. That filled me up, was stuffed. Made myself eat ice cream and have milk later to get some more calories in.

I probably could have had another snack around 3AM but at that point I just went to bed instead.
