None of my female friends would do this. They'd all give it back without question and rejoice at the free drink. Most likely I'd say keep it and get the next round.

Being a mere acquaintance though, this bitch here has a right ****ing nerve. ****.

now that i think about it more, what's up with giving the girl $20 to go get the round for you? a gentleman would stop her from going and go himself to get them.

for a simple OP, this thread is solid. it even has Tony_P talking about what gentlemen do.

meh, in younger, crowded bars with dude bartenders I've definitely asked girls to get a round. They definitely get served quicker.

If my friend gives me money to grab him some grub at Mickey D's and I end up being the 10 trillionth customer and get the meal for free, I'm a scumbag for keeping his money.

OP wasn't paying her to perform some kind of service, he was giving her the actual money for the goods purchased. This is no different than the drinks coming to 13 bucks and her just pocketing the change.

itt people show they've never actually been to the bar with a girl

I'd see it as a cheap (free) lesson

It's very different b/c she's not just randomly getting the drinks bought for her. They're being bought for her specifically by someone. She was already doing OP a favor by buying him his drinks so he didn't have to stand and wait at the bar. On top of this favor, she now has to transfer a stranger's gift to her to OP? Explain why.

this isn't an argument.

he paid $20 to PAY for the drinks to the bar. she didn't have to pay for the drinks, so he gets the money back.

i am honestly shocked there is debate about this

Let's see, she's either too selfish or too stupid to realize that keeping the money isn't right. Plus, she's mean enough to point it out to OP (though I suppose stupid might explain that too). So, basically standard female behavior.

Someone else said it and I'll +1: **** her and let her keep the $20. She's probably worth about that much.

This x1000

I dont necessarly think its standard for her to take the money, but its def not wrong.

hm, i misread the Op. thought you were offering to buy the chick a drink in addition to getting you one. Still a ridiculous move by her, especially if you knew her in the slightest.

Here's a more interesting question for you guys:

Let's say the woman does give you the 20 bucks back. Do you now feel obligated to go talk to the guy at the bar who (however unintentionally) bought you a round of drinks? What if he puts the moves on you? Do you feel obligated to put out?

I find it amusing that there are still guys who think buying a girl drinks at a bar is some sort of show status or will somehow increase their chances of being able to sleep with them. My most broke most degenerate friends could still buy a round of drinks for someone if they so desired. Buying drinks for random chicks is for absolute chumps.

lol at letting a stranger buy you drinks.

It's okay, man. You'll outgrow these childish blanket views of women in your late seventies.

I constantly see these types of questions in OOT. How can anyone have friends like these? Is it the OP's that suck or is it the general population?
