I'm in Scotland which is having its best summer in at least ten years with about four weeks of sun so far. We're hitting around 30 degrees and everything is struggling. Trains lifts and escalators are breaking because they never expect it to get over 25 and no one has air conditioning. My room is legit hotter than outside and worse than some saunas I've been in. All I've got is a clapped out fan to waft warm air at me but I've taken to taking a gardening spray to bed with me to keep cool and I may try Lapka's technique if it doesn't get cooler soon.

That said being outside during the day is sooo much more pleasant now than it is during the cloud and rain we get the other 11 months of the year and every time it gets like this I wonder why I live where I do. Definitely couldn't handle it much hotter though.

Window tint on the inside of a double pane window can create a disparity in heat that will crack the glass.

85 is acceptable to you? keep my house at 70 I would die without AC

At > 75 bugs become an issue.

70 is good. 65 and pulling out a blanket to stay warm is perfect.

Not much disputing that 25°C / 77°F is the sweet spot.
06-30-2018 , 05:22 PM
77 is too warm for inside.
06-30-2018 , 05:25 PM
Actually prefer it on the cool side while inside #tubby

Have my house at 77. Any lower and its just too expensive and not worth the return.

I've lived without AC for years, but I've been looking at upgrading out of my ****ty apartment now that I have a real profession. AC is pretty high on the list, idgaf about the electric bill. I am chubby and get hot if it's above 68. I don't have AC, a dishwasher (or a kitchen really) or TV.

85 is like the peak all year and that's fine with me. Over 80 is rare. Under 50 is also rare, but it's been there as well. Probably 95% of the time it's between 65 and 75 without heat or AC, which isn't a huge surprise because probably about 95% of the time it's between about 60 and 80 outside.

Is there some universal way to signal to other drivers that their blinker is on when they clearly don’t know it is? I know patting your head means cop, and the middle finger and few other rude ones that I don’t ever do so I don’t get shooted, but this seems like a gap.

If there isn’t one that I’m unaware of, I propose hand out the window and opening and closing your fist.

I like your way. Just yesterday I saw a trucker with his blinker on and I was trying to think how to signal him.
06-30-2018 , 08:24 PM
Lmao at thinking anyone unaware enough to leave their blinker on would even see a signal from another driver let alone one that you made up

Microbet is correct regarding windows etc although ideally inside should be no higher than 25. As long as it cools down at night so you can sleep it's all good really. I've lived in the tropics and am happy enough with a fan on, except when I am sleeping where ac is preferable. I was lolling at de cap and his maximum and then saw Js preference, wtf lol? I only use our ac on really hot days or nights.

Jmakin is right though. Were being idealistic. As fast as I wanted to signal dude I was like **** this and blew right by him.

Never had ac but it was 110 one day last year.

I’ve had occasional success at pointing at someone and then pointing down at my steering column.
06-30-2018 , 08:45 PM
I don't see how that could be taken the wrong way.

Erryone should just have their cell # displayed in their rear window so that you could text them to advise them of such things.

My Canadian need to be helpful to strangers in minor ways tells me to believe it’s possible. The dude who sparked this was cruising on the freeway in his beater pick-up spaces out after some kind of workday in the hot sun. If I had got in front of him and stuck my hand up through the sunroof (I drive a Prius so don’t accuse me of humblebragging here) and did the fist-flash he’d see it, maybe snap out of it, and hopefully not misinterpret and shoot me.

Maybe I’ll try it next time.

Howard said he had occasional success! His definition of success may be somewhat different to ours

yeah that makes no sense...I think pretty much everyone would understand the opening and closing of your first however.

What about your second?

lay on the horn during the day, flash brights at night
