There are girls there, that might be the only redeeming quality, though I question the fact that I'd fall in love with a girl at a bar because since I hate going to them so much, I automatically attach a negative quality to girls who like to go to bars.

Am I missing something? Am I the only one who can't f-ing stand these things? I'd rather buy a bottle of whatever alcohol I feel like for a reasonable price, make my own drinks that aren't 80% ice, listen to non-crappy music and enjoy the company of friends I can actually talk to because there aren't a hundred other people all screaming at the same time.

I am totally open to being convinced to go to bars, I've been to a few, but I always leave with the same feeling.

Agree with everything here. I have a strong bad feeling about bars and have never been to one in my life, amazingly.

How old are you? So because you have a "bad feeling" about bars you agree 100% with the OP even though you have never been in one? Do you even realize that most of them are just basically restaurants that serve alcohol and nothing more?

Loud bars were fun in college because I could know up to half of the people there. Nowadays I pretty much just know my friends I came with and it's not in my personality to go around being a social butterfly (or a PUA).

Once you are past university having house parties becomes considerably less common as your home becomes nice enough that you rather pay to have someone else deal with providing the venue.

A bar, a beer (+ a pack of cigarettes when I still smoked) and good company has been the scene for many of my life's absolutely best conversations.

Saying "bars are loud" is kinda like saying "water is cold".

i think a large part of this has to do with where you live, your age, etc

without that information it's hard to say if your hate is just or just stupid

A lot of it also has to do with how you define bar. As you get older if you are still going to bars that are basically a barn that sells booze for cheap prices where 18-21 go to get plastered then that is pretty sad and I can see how people would get sick of that. As you get older though you change the type of venues and your behavior. Unless someone is a major introvert that doesn't need to socialize I can't see how you can not enjoy going to some form of licensed venue. If you don't go out where do you interact with people?
