It's just roast beef and horseradish. Arby's could pull this off, but the key is the kimmelweck roll.

Delicious. This is the food Buffalo should be known for.
Schwabls is solid but my main gripe is that every server is like 90 years old and it takes forever. Next time you're in town head out to Bar Bill in East Aurora. I went there recently and had best beef on weck in my life.

Agreed about your other comment though. I'm at the point where I think chicken wings are just nasty.

Edit: It's not just roast beef and horseradish. The salt on the bun is great and the dipping of the bun in the Au Jus is incredible. And the places like Schwalbs and Bar Bill ask how you want the beef (rare, well done, etc) which is awesome. Arby's could never do that.

Problem with Bill Bar is that it’s in East Aurora. Schwabl’s is also not exactly in town. I like sitting in the bar area and never noticed a long wait but I’m always on vacation.

I need recs in town ideally close to or in Allentown.

I know it's a PITA to drive to East Aurora but I'm telling you, their beef on weck is so damn good. And it's hard for me to get excited about a beef on weck but Bar Bill did it.

My immediate thought to your post was Garbriel's Gate. Now, I haven't been there in probably ten years. But here's an article that's a few years old that may help.

I’ve been probably ten years ago but I actually do need to go back, Bar Bill is actually on my way to Buffalo from family so no excuse actually. I don’t remember it standing out though compared to Schwabl’s or even Charlie. I went to a place called Heckl’s I liked but I think they where a COVId victim.

I like going to Gabriel’s Gate but there beef on weck isn’t that great.

I’ll check the list, thanks.

That list reminds me I need to get Blackthorn, I hope those Micks let Polacks in there.

I love any kettle style jalapeńo chip I’ve ever had, I imagine I’d enjoy those as well.

bought a bag of the habanero tonight when i went to the store (just to have chip props tomorrow morning when i make my next bagel sandwich and take a pic with better lighting).
the woman bagging my stuff said 'oh, these are spicy!' and asked if i've ever had the truffle and sea salt krinkle chips, i said nope but i've seen them. she says they're amazing, and then she asks if i've ever had the dill pickle krinkle chips. again i said nope but i've seen them and she says 'the pickle flavor is great...they taste just like a pickle and pickles are may favorite thing'. ?????

“Pickles are my favorite thing.”

You should’ve replied…

AKWARD!!! Then slowly walked away.
