I've been doing 1:1 ketchup/mayo since I was a teenager working in the Zoo snack bar. Great on onion rings, too!

Red wins!

Az,

You’d be right at home in San Juan. They even put that stuff on pizza.

Has anyone ever heard of a peanut butter SBS tomato sandwich? Apparently it was Great Depression staple. I did it, not bad.

most likely true, and we wouldn't have one if we weren't gifted one.
we also have a convection oven, but i do think there's something about the smaller basket of an air fryer that makes the air circulation (and the cook) more efficient. i haven't implemented the scientific method on this, but my hunch is one of the keys when using a full size oven is to put the food on a rack to help the air circulate on all sides of the food. air fryers usually have slotted baskets to help with this

spousal tater air fryer method:
mandoline slice the taters to a uniform thickness then knife cut the slabs to square them off.
soak in salted water for an hour or two to remove starch
lay out flat, pat dry, and pat dry again. let them sit there a bit longer to think about how dry they should be.
little drizzle of oil so the seasoning sticks
seasoning: whatever you want. salt, cracked black, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, cayenne, etc. she also sprinkled some kraft grated parm on them.
cook time: with the air fryer at 400 i think it was three 7 minute sessions with a break in the middle of each to flip and separate.

most likely this could be done in the same time in a full size convection oven, but she's on a mission and i wasn't going to dissuade her.

Hey RG welcome back. You’re a guy who’s probably had a PB and tomato sandwich. You where probably even around for it when they where popular during the depression.

Just had to share about one of the best sandwiches I ever had last night from Fat Sal's, their Bodacious Beef Dip.

Tons of roast beef on a long, toasted hoagie topped with truffled mushrooms and onions, melted provolone, hot giardinera, horseradish aioli, and a big fat ****ing side of gravy. Not au jus, gravy.

I added hot peppers and an extra side of the horseradish aioli (for free!) and also got a side of tots, plus a peanut butter Oreo milkshake that was VEGAN and yet might have been one of the best milkshakes I've ever had.

The side of gravy came in a container made for an entire cup of soup. There was legit enough to drown the sandwich for every bite. I ate it all last night around 6pm, and I was so stuffed afterward that I didn't eat until 4pm today.

Shame on me for eternity for not thinking to take pics, but here's one from when they first promoted it:
