Almost, Villian. Right-click the picture and click "copy image location." Paste that between the IMG tags (and remove the slash from the first tag).

It's 31 lbs of ground beef and 26 other cuts. All of the other cuts are well over a pound with a couple 3lb+ roasts. I'd say we are well over 60lbs. I might do the math someday.

It was $389 and I had exactly 3-$100, 1-$50, and 2-$20s. She offered to run back in and get me a dollar. I honestly feel like a total jackass for not tipping. That's terrible. I guess I can still say I've never been cow tipping.

Very friendly folks. They have a 20+ acre farm. The girl running the show spent several years in Australia volunteering at a massive cattle ranch. She then went to Wyoming to hone her craft. She really cares for those animals. You can tell that the animals live a very healthy and happy life.

You can learn more about her here. Warning there is a picture of her castrating a 500lb bull in the link below.

I see the appeal of hand picking your steaks and have done that my whole life until today. However, saving money wasn't my goal. I didn't really have a goal but some of the benefits I've experienced so far is that I went on an awesome drive through areas I wouldn't have otherwise gone, I learned a little bit about how the local beef industry works, what the cows like to eat, how they herd the cows up, where the cows go in the winter, that she calls them by numbers instead of names, she brands them herself but doesn't butcher them etc.

The following pictures are from Maiden Creek Beef's farm.

There's a cow in this one

She was even nice enough to take a picture showing off the marbling on a nice beef ribeye steak for my online followers.

BONUS: I dropped some lysol wipes, hand sanitixer, etc off on my Mom's porch on my drive up there and she told me to swing by on the way home. She left me a friggin brand new Anova sous vide cooker on the porch for me. Just amazing stuff going on right now.

Choosing your own steaks is for little people, true ballas choose their own cows.

Ok, that makes sense. I thought you said you bought a 1/4.

That just reminded me of a former girlfriend. Her dad owned a business that manufactured captive bold guns among other things. I was very happen that she never asked me if I wanted to see one in action.

I don't think many people do that to save money.

If you want to do it on the cheap, you buy 30lbs of ground beef in bulk for maybe $50 and the 30 lbs of steak for way less than $10/lbs.

I'm glad you guys/gals enjoyed the TR. I'll try to do more of them.

Another benefit to buying the 1/8 cow is that I am now forcing myself to cook. Cooking steak has always been a challenge for me but I know I'll be in good hands over in the steak thread.

Thanks for all of the kind comments.
