I think the point of the ice maker is to make the ice really soft so it melts in your mouth.

So what makes this ice better than chipped ice?

I actually really like ice. My favorite are those little circular dots of ice.

I know some people drink whiskey with special cubes (I believe they are round and almost clear), something about surface area, I don't remember exactly. I was too busy tasting the ice.

Flatiron pepper flakes.

They have four different varieties. My favorite is the Hatch Valley Green. So damn good. The four pepper blend is very tasty but way too hot for me to eat directly. It'd be really good in chili. Will try it and report back.

I was thinking "sonic ice" was just some marketing gimmick for whatever over priced ice machine you were talking about, but somehow spending $500 on this is even dumber

Yes, ice like you get at Sonic restaurant. It is also called pellet ice or nugget ice, but Sonic developed a cult like following for theirs and started selling it by the bag so calling it Sonic ice became common.

Yeah, it’s REALLY good and being able to have it at home has been better than i ever expected it to be. And this startup made it affordable for people that don’t have Matthew McConaughey type budgets (see GQ link above, he’s an addict with one of the commercial machines in his house)
