I've always liked Wisconsin and Michigan for some reason. Yes, I know that's weird.

Florida is one of my least favorite states even though I've spent a fair amount of time there.

New Orleans is probably my favorite city but I don't know if that alone is enough to move the whole state to the top of the list. I enjoy Las Vegas, NYC and Chicago somewhat too. But I've been pretty much nowhere else in Nev...and outside of NYC and Chi I'm not really in love with other parts of NY and Ill.

Of those States I've been to, I would rank them thusly:

Hawai'i (just insanely beautiful. Mountains and beaches within 5 miles)
California (Obv. a ton to do here, world class cities...gambling...beaches)
Colorado (2nd most-beautiful behind Hawai'i.)
Texas (Lot of great road trips u can take here. Fun people.)
Nevada (the dry heat is nice. Vegas and Tahoe rule. not much else).
Illinois (Chicago owns but the corn doesn't)
Florida (Bad economy. Old people. Weird vibe)

I haven't been to New York or North Carolina.

Massachusetts, specifically Cape Cod. It's where I was raised and I don't get back often enough, so pretty standard imo.

Maine is also pretty awesome. Strange place, beautiful coast.

In terms of variety of everything, though, pretty impossible to beat California.

Colorado is a beautiful, wonderful state and is much easier to get used to than Hawaii if you're from a more northerly climate. It's cheaper to live there, too.

Lol at not putting Jersey as a top 10 state

Jersey pretty much has it all... diversity, great beaches (aka the shore), proximity to nyc, close to mountains if you like skiing, top 3 state every year in terms of income/ capita, AC, and Newark/ Jersey City have recently improved their downtown areas significantly, too much more to list

how the hell is Oregon not on this list. maybe it's just a BC-people thing, but western canadians LOVE oregon, and i'm no exception. probably the state that most reminds me of BC.

never been to arizona/colorado/nevada but i'm sure i would like them, same with florida.

If we were ranking cities, fine. But as a state NY is terrible outside of NYC. It's like Chicago/Illinois.

It's pretty obv the answer is California as a whole. The range and diversity of places you can live there is hands down better than anywhere else. San Diego, SF, and LA are 3 completely different but amazing cities. Not to mention everything else in between.
