You don't get out much. I've seen quite a few boy-children with ponytails. And I have on occasion dressed him entirely in pink. He doesn't seem to mind.

I live in SoCal and have probably seen <10 boys sporting a ponytail. I'll walk around daycares and schools with a camera looking for boys with ponytails.
