Isn't it the British way of saying period? I think on my voice-regconition software that I never use you can say either.

In any case, saying it IRL is stupid.

I looked it up and, yeah, it's British.

Came across something else interesting though. I saw a guy writing about how using a period at the end of a sentence in a text (sms message) is considered aggressive by youngsters. And iirc, one of my kids said something about how I text like I'm mad and it having to do with using punctuation.

Not that any of you are 13 years old, but most of you are closer than I am. Do you feel like a period at the end makes a text seem angry?

Hell no. Just proper inglish mate.

'Over and out' pisses me off, makes no sense.

Hmm, that makes sense. Texting conversations often hang at the end, not really knowing if they are over. Over.

Remember when Time's Person of the Year was....You! And they put a mirror on the cover?

Let's say most "....... of the Year" are lame. Except Ms. OOT. It's almost time for that, right? Daddario would be a shoe in to win again, given her recent choice as Baywatch female lead.

I get how counting small-to-big is practical and easier - but it tilts me.
That's how you're supposed to count change

When you don't hear someone, and you respond "what?"... and they take that as you stating disbelief so they dive into some defense of what they said - meanwhile you are still clueless as to what they said in the first place.

Just read the OP in the thread "Muslims." He wrote "Full Stop."

Yeah I noticed that too. Wonder what I would have thought about it if not for the little blurb ITT.

Someone used full stop in a meeting this week, combined with period: "Our goal is 90% xyz by end of year. Period, full stop."

I think this is the first time I've ever heard it, but very much wondering if I just glossed over it before.

When announcers say "that shot was half way down" on a shot that goes in and out. That's physically impossible.

I've never heard someone say "full stop" at the end of a sentence. It would piss me off for sure.

The only time I've heard it was in "The English Patient" when the Indian dude was reading Kipling to burned up Amoth Goeth.

People adding unnecessary nouns on the end of sentences to make themselves sound smart. Examples:

"The Ruger 10/22 is a lightweight and versatile weapon system"

"Free throw shooting is an incredibly valuable skill set"

Just say weapon and skill! The Timberwolves announcer is terrible at this, every individual skill is a skill set. It also pisses me off that I can't decide if the unnecessary nouns change the nouns weapon and skill into adjectives in the above examples.

you get free simple syrup in iced drinks. granules don't dissolve well in cold liquids. Just tell the barista how many pumps you want.
