Truck Y is say 30 yards ahead of Truck X in the right lane, both Trucks are going at the same speed
If Driver A moves to the right lane between the two trucks, allowing Driver B to pass him, Driver A will have to briefly slow down to Truck Y's speed

Is Driver A obligated to get over?
As was mentioned earlier, speeding up for the brief passing period is probably the best move. Absent that, I think most people would be better served (insofar as being a courteous person is concerned) by moving over if it's in question at all. Most are probably overrating the delay they would incur and underrating the delay the drivers behind them are incurring.

There are certainly some overly-polite people in which the converse probably applies, but I would think that to be an extreme minority.

I used to work in a sub shop and if I got a sub my coworkers would always put a little extra on. This actually made the subs taste worse as there was too much cheap low quality meat and not enough veggies.

edit: and yes this pissed me off. I tried asking them not to, but as a group they were old fat women who couldn't understand not wanting more of anything.

When I'm third in line while driving down the road. The first car is preparing to turn, but I can't tell if he's signaling. Whether he is or isn't is irrelevant here.

I get pissed at the 2nd car for stopping behind that first car which slows me down. He's not signaling, because he's not turning, but he stops. That pisses me off.

Ha ha, I actually rear-ended someone that way (car turning stopped mid-turn).

As long as we're talking about driving.....

How about when a car puts its turn signal on but doesn't do it for the next turn. Like I'm in a driveway of a parking lot and I see a car on the main road with its turn signal on and I think I'm correct in assuming that it is about to enter the parking lot I am vacating, so I think it's safe to turn onto the main road. But no, the car had its turn signal on for a turn that was two roads away.

What is the correct methodology for determining when to use the turn signal? Isn't it only before the turn you are about to make, not two or three possible turns ahead of time?

Never assume a turn signal means someone is actually going to turn.

Yeah. I don't trust blinkers.

Was exiting grocery store, the parking lot exits to a service road. Truck with a giant camper is coming. His blinker is not on. He then turns his blinker on signaling that he is turning into the grocery store, I can visibly see him slowing down to make the turn like, to sub 25 mph. So I dart out, to take a right turn and then I see him lay on his horn and jam on his brakes to avoid raping me. I throw my hand up to apologize, and he turns into the grocery store after passing 2 more entrances into it.

Yeah, assuming a blinker means they're turning is definitely a mistake.

I generally follow the "Only turn my signal on when my turn is the next turn I could make" rule. But there are exceptions. If I have someone close behind me and there are a number of turn options coming up with nobody waiting in them to turn in front of me I'll put my signal on early because its safer to give warning to the guy behind me before I start braking.

And if there is somebody waiting its just a judgement call on whats more likely to cause an accident. Just weighing the chance the dude behind you rear ends you because you braked before signalling vs the chance the dude waiting to turn in front of you will take your signal to mean they can turn in front of you and you can hit them.

I feel we could have a separate thread for just the car/driving examples and it would be longer than a thread for all other examples. That how much people suck at driving.

This is always AIDS but is extra-AIDS if there are a lot of elevators. At my office there are six. Doubt i have ever waited more than 45 sec for one but doesnt stop some toolshed from jamming his fist in the door to keep it from closing so he can wedge on with 12 other people instead of waiting <1 minute. Dom,

Random website this week suggested hanging a couple squares of toilet paper over the sensor to prevent public poop water mid dump. Haven't had a chance to test this for practicality, but I guess it should work.

i've seen this with people that weren't homeless lol. a kid that worked for the landscaping co that did my lawn would wear jeans/hoodies in just the nastiest summer heat.

another kid(my friend's wifes brother(nicaraguan)--worked for me for 2 yrs) would wear long pants/long sleeves all summer--and then when it got cold in the fall would switch to shorts/t-shirts/flip-flops...wtf???

Was at a concert and this real good-looking coed was walking up to all the guys in the crowd and putting her finger on the top of their head, and telling them to start spinning around. Why? I have no idea. She was just drunk and annoying. All of the guys were doing it because I guess they do whatever an annoying hot girl tells them. She came to me and put her finger on top of my head, and then looked all offended when I just calmly looked at her, shook my head no, and proceeded to ignore her.

Cliffs: annoying but hot girls who think guys will fall all over themselves doing random stupid s**t for them for no reason.
