Yeah, it was a 12/10, 110% awesome and all the other enraging adjectives you can think of. It was a bike and barge tour (we bike through the countryside, the barge rolls down the river and meets us at the next town) of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, and Veneto, ending in Venice. PM me if you want the details and stuff.
We'd roll into the tiny little Italian towns and be celebrities. Every place you stop for coffee or lunch beers brings out round after round of cheese, little finger sandwiches, cakes, etc. And you owe them like 1 euro for the coffee with no tip or tax on top. But i guess 10 cyclists from around the world in your little 300 person town is a big deal. Was also cool that i was the only American and lots of people wanted to talk about America, ask me questions about America. Cafes would have pictures on the wall of the Chrysler building, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, etc. Made me proud to be an American in a strange way.
