When a mother or daughter say "we don't have a typical mother-daughter relationship, my mother/daughter is my best friend."

Edited to fit the topic at hand: that Italians don't know how to cook pizza.

Pisses me off that I pay the same price to get to get my compact car washed as Jim Joe Billy Bob does to get his monster truck washed, or Shady McRaperson pays to get his conversion van washed.

And I dont want to pay less. I just want them to pay more.

Thats bruschetta.

There's a reason why Italians' lives revolve around their meals - no one has or makes better food than Italy.

I've been there a few times, and it's astounding just how good a simple meal of linguini and clams can be. It's like no other country in the world. And I grew up in Italian Jersey/NY. It does not compare.

Every time I've left Italy I've cried because I knew my taste buds had been temporarily ruined for American food.

But yes, the pizza - while delicious - is not the same as American pizza.

I lived in Rome and traveled around Italy for four months.

The food was generally fantastic... except for the pizza. It sucked.

Funny that you mention that. I just did a bicycle tour of Italy in April and one of my favorite meals was a plate of linguini vongole from a little mother-daughter place on the beach. So simple but so incredible.

It's such a simple but amazing dish. It's what I use to judge if an Italian place has good food. If it's not on the menu then I never go back.

I'm with this one hundred per cent. My two beasts weigh in together at about 180 pounds, which is slightly more than what I weigh. There is no circumstance where I walk them off-leash in our suburban neighborhood. Out on a farm might be different, but definitely not where we might meet strangers or strange dogs.

So drop your mom off at the salon and run a few errands. Nobody says you have to sit there.

Took a couple weeks and drove around Tuscany: Siena, Perugia, Todi, Orvieto, Montepulciano, Luca, Pisa, Florence, and others...what I remember most is that every place we stopped for lunch had free bruschetta as an appetizer, and every place did just a little different than the last. I could survive on Italian bruschetta for a year and be happy.

Speaking of Italian food, I hate when restaurants list squid ink pasta but what they mean is that they put some squid ink in the making of the pasta to make it black but there is no squid ink in the sauce to give it that awesome briny flavor.

My most memorable bite was a pasta in squid ink sauce I had in venice that would stain your teeth a special tint of Halloween but made it oh so worth it.

Hehe nice. But seriously my barber advertises as a barber for men and women, wtf? You can imagine the type of women that get their haircut at a barber, straight ugly with no hope, or a married senior who's been married so long it don't matter wtf their hair looks like, your husbands been stuck for over 10 years already, gfys and don't waste our time

Once I mentioned it to him, like, I'm surprised you get so many women, and he was offended and asked why, I said your a barber, he's all, a barber for men and women. If you don't take appointments and cut women's hair gfys

Yeah, it was a 12/10, 110% awesome and all the other enraging adjectives you can think of. It was a bike and barge tour (we bike through the countryside, the barge rolls down the river and meets us at the next town) of Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, and Veneto, ending in Venice. PM me if you want the details and stuff.

We'd roll into the tiny little Italian towns and be celebrities. Every place you stop for coffee or lunch beers brings out round after round of cheese, little finger sandwiches, cakes, etc. And you owe them like 1 euro for the coffee with no tip or tax on top. But i guess 10 cyclists from around the world in your little 300 person town is a big deal. Was also cool that i was the only American and lots of people wanted to talk about America, ask me questions about America. Cafes would have pictures on the wall of the Chrysler building, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Statue of Liberty, etc. Made me proud to be an American in a strange way.
