But mikekelley is a superior human as he can clearly show that americans are uneducated stupid!

Anyway, something that annoys me is when restaurants refuse to give you a glass of tap water in order to force you to order their beverages.

You don't need conversational fluency, but learning please, thank you and the correct pronunciations of place names and basic grammar would be nice, but that's probably asking too much for ignorant americans.

I'm not sure about the artistic talent part but the first part is pretty much everyone. No one admits their wrong even when faced with overwelming evidence to counter their opinion. Seems like it's almost human nature. But I agree that it's annoying. You kinda just have to understand the signs of the person knowing their wrong without them saying so. That's how I claim victory or indicate defeat.

The French are also really bad at this. But it seems like it is mostly Americans who do not make any effort whatsoever.

I just got back from two weeks in the Netherlands and two weeks in Iceland. Did I learn both of the languages in their entirety? No I did not. But did I at least learn the basic pleasantries and give make an effort to pronounce things the way that they were intended? Yes. Could I ask to order food in Icelandic? Yes. Could I say thank you and please? Sure. Could I get involved in a heavy conversation about life and poker? Absolutely not - but the effort will go such a long way.

The world does not revolve around Americans.

It's not their fault, it is our fault (i am American too) for catering to them. Some smart businessman decided that if he made his menu into English and Spanish that he'd get a lot more business. And here we are today.

when junk shows like CSI abbreviate "gun shot wound" (3 syllables) with "G.S.W." (5 syllables). this might make sense in a written report, but not when speaking.

junk shows like CSI.

fat vegetarians.

bumper stickers.

using apostrophes on plural nouns -- menu's, fork's, etc -- often seen on restaurant menus/printed signs.

I'd always try this under some bizarre illusion that they'd eventually understand what I was trying to say. That was until I went to Barcelona last week and had trouble finding my hotel. I went into a shop to ask directions (pointing at a map was the extent of it) and the woman behind the counter did exactly this- you could tell she was slowing her speech down and speaking more loudly - only it was in Spanish and I still couldn't understand anything she was saying. Lesson learned on my behalf.

It bugs me that the word troop now is used to indicated a single member of the military and not a collection of them.

How about junk shows like CSI have been on air for years and have had numerous spinoffs.

How about vegans that try to push the stupid ideals on you. The reason why we humans evolved and are where we are at is because we kill to consume meat.

My campus (University of Minnesota) has special free shuttle buses, painted school colors and everything, which are converted from normal buses. They travel in a circuit all day with four or five specific, predetermined stops on it to get students across the Mississippi river and to the St. Paul campus.

Every time I'm on there someone pulls the string as soon as the bus starts moving.

People that don't know what logic is, or possess it in the vaguest of terms but lack the critical thinking skills / comprehension to understand or predict opponent's arguments.
