Yes, and if you didn't have that carpet, most of that crap would still be in the air you're breathing.

Or you could get an air filter. Crazy concept.

My apartment has concrete floors but it is downtown so it works. I couldn't see wanting concrete in a house ever though. Hardword/travertine definitely.

no doubt...
I just ripped up the carpet and refinished my hardwood floors last year...First time I've ever had them and they suck..Going back to carpet next spring.
They look fantastic but not being able to sit/lay on the floor, plus cleaning them is alot bigger pain in the ass, just isn't worth it.

Ummm, is this technically a "house?"

I mean, mere's a 400-square foot house:

So your house is a little bigger than this?

To hear him tell it, it's 37.5% bigger, you clod!!

Or perhaps you are insinuating that he is calling his "apartment" a "house," which is really annoying and should go in the things that annoy you thread.

It really hadn't occurred to me that he was referring to his apartment as his "house," but yes, that is really annoying.

I guess I'm a clod, sure.

But it sure sounds like a really small house though. Really small.

Yes. These are the pictures of the front and side of my house, the living room, bathroom, kitchen, and bedroom. You can see the edge of a queen size bed in my bedroom. I'm single and a law student, so the place is perfect for my needs. The house is literally a two and a half minute walk from the building where all of my classes are held. Also, there are four large sorority houses on the same block as my house.

The # of my address is 965. The landlord I rent from basically owns a big lot on the corner of two streets and there are five separate houses on this piece of property that the guy owns. There is not one "dominant" house in a situation where it's something like an apartment above the garage of a larger house.

If I could have a house the way I like it, it would have very smooth hard floors, and only leather couches/chairs/beds.
I don't feel like getting into the carpet/no carpet debate, but I just have to wonder, what kind of mattress do you like? Do you have a plastic hospital type mattress? those are not comfortable in any way. An air bed? unless it's a cheap plastic one, there's cloth there too. Foam? if you think cloth traps dust, sweat, germs, etc, do you really think a piece of foam (which is basically a sponge) is better? 100% latex? with no cloth covering? I really am curious as to what non-cloth covered, completely uncomfortable surface you choose to slumber on. You say in your post that leather is your choice. Unless you are the only person I've ever heard of who never sweats at night, I can't think that leather would maintain a non-gross aspect for very long.

I fully apologize to your house.

There was a good fifteen years when this would have been the PERFECT rental for me.

It is also MUCH bigger than the 400 sq ft house I so dumbly linked.

Also, so close to all those sororities....you could go Bundy on they ass if you want, anytime.

Sweet hookup.

(But seriously, I like your house.)

theres more of that crap in the air if you have carpets. whether or not you have carpets you still have to change your air filter. you still have to wipe surfaces that collect dust, and u should also have some sort of additional air filter from sharper image or w/e.

I thought this thread was gonna be about sweat shops in which kids are forced to sew carpets for 18 hours a day.

I just got up this morning and started down the stairs. At around the third step from the top, I guess I missed a step and I fell down the stairs, which is about 15 steps or so. Thanks to carpet, I am non-injured! Thank god for carpet, YAY!
