Seems like a good deal for $45

It's not as big of a box as the picture would indicate but yes its a decent deal.

I would recommend getting a few boxes as shipping costs are the same irrespective of how many boxes.

Was conscious to try more nigiri this time at Biwon. I loooove the salmon. Also got tuna, garlic tuna, yellow tail, sweet shrimp, and (i think it was called) tsubugai. Something to do with the inside of a snail! I enjoyed it all thoroughly! The ribeye was particularly delicious, but limited to one person.

That looks really good. First time seeing tsubugai at an AYCE.

My sushi experience isn't much beyond grocery store California rolls. Same for my kids(14 & 16). We'll be in Vegas next weekend and they want sushi. Where can I take them for $50-$75\pp and get to try a lot of different things?

Biwon! Half that price.

ec - hard to go wrong with any of the usual places recommended in the LVL sushi thread. if i were you i'd go with sakana. family friendly, solid variety, easy experience, lots of not-sushi on the menu just in case things go sideways. tell them it's your first time eating sushi and they'll take care of you. tip the sushi chefs at the bar directly, preferably both when you arrive (while mentioning you're first timers) as well as when you leave.

don't forget to raise a tuna nigiri to your homie chop at some point as well

We are going to Vegas Nov. 17 - 23. Is there a night for Kabuto that is better than others? I'm thinking Wed. or Thurs. night is fine, but any idea when the fresh fish arrives? Or if the chefs change and some are better than others? As a couple, should we still ask to sit at the bar (we love sitting at bars)?

Also heading to Sakana, but not sure when yet. Not as worried about that experience

Kabuto didn't get the reputation it has by having off nights or fish that isn't fresh or inferior chefs. just pick the night that works for you.
sitting at the bar means you get to watch while the chefs prepare the sushi right in front of you. IMO it's the best experience, not the lesser experience like sitting at the bar of a non-sushi high end restaurant can be.

Good to know. We'll definitely request the bar. Sat at the bar at Hiroyoshi and Raku and loved the experiences. I figured Kabuto was the same, but always good to check. Will also call to see if they have a corkage fee. We love sake, but also love champagne with sushi, and they offer only one bottle (half). We'll bring champagne and order sake

I wouldn't be surprised if they went to the airport every day that they are open.

Also, for certain fishes, freshness is not exactly what you want. Just like steaks are dry aged at high end steakhouses, certain fishes are also aged in high end sushi restaurants to improve texture and flavor.

Champagne is a great pairing with sushi but also don't overlook beer. I don't ascribe to this myself, but some sushi snobs avoid sake with nigiri as sake is made from rice and they believe the taste of sake masks the taste of the sushi shari.

Champagne (quite dry) or a light dry white is better for my tastes when pairing with sushi, but I do love the taste of sake. We'll probably order the sake on its own. We are pretty big wine drinkers (we drink a lot), so if we run out of champagne during the omakase or while we are still ordering sushi dishes, we'll be sure to order a Junmai Ginjo or similar.

Enjoy beer very much, but the hubby is trying to stay gluten free We prefer wine, anyway, and I like dark beers, which probably don't pair well.

Son wanted sushi for his bday so we ordered some takeout.

The smoked salmon roll my wife ordered was nasty, everything else was tasty enough. Don't know what was up with that weird white sauce though

amberjack, scallop, tuna, fluke, yellowtail, lemonfish

Spicy scallop was delicious

They also threw in a spider roll and some other deep fried not very good roll that the kids crushed.

Being stuck in the UK right now isn't all bad. Absolutely love this place for sushi. The bottom one is the salmon unicorn roll... As per their menu, an inside out roll with shrimp tempura, crabstick, red pepper, avocado & cucumbers topped with salmon, sprinkled with spring onions in a French dressing. So good.
