Last I went to a friend's house to play poker. While I was out, another friend gets a call from my home phone on his cell. He missed the call cuz it only rang once. I obviously didn't make the call as I was out and I LIVE ALONE. No one I know has the keys to my place. My friend's cell was the last # to call my house before I left last night, so it's seems to me that someone accessed my apartment and at some point used my phone, accidentally re-dialed and got my friend, hanging up right away when they realized what they had done. Isn't that F***** up?

Do you think it's possible the one ring call to my friend's cell was some kind of glitch? I've never heard of anything like this happening. I know my friend's not putting me on cuz I trust him and he showed my his call display with my # on it from last night. Nothing was taken from my apartment, including a decent amount of cash in plain view. (Credit card not used and I'll be checking that one closely).

I'm going to call my phone company today (Bell - I'm in Canada) to see if if they can confirm an outgoing call from my # at the specified time last night. I wonder if they'll be any help - I can picture them charging me tons for this service, those greedy bitches. I'm also going to ask them if any other outgoing calls were made from my # after the time I left (though right after my friend got that first call he called back a gazillion times so I doubt the "intruder" made further use of my phone).

Again, isn't that f***** up? I'm hoping it is some kind of glitch

You can plug in the call display number that appears on the other person's phone when you call them.

This is good for:
- Calling your friends from a mutual friend's number (actually shows up as their name on call display)
- Seeing if someone is screening calls
- Stalking people, obv.
- There's also an option that it will go straight to voicemail and say missed call without them hearing their phone ring.

I just created 10 missed call from mutual friends on one of my friend's phones.

but I'm pretty sure a bear is the most logical answer

OP,

I hate to be the one to say this, but your girlfriend is cheating on you.

The most likely scenario is that there is some kind of mistake. Cell phone companies in Canada are horrible when it comes to dates. If I change the date on my cell phone I can actually send e-mails from it that look like they were sent in the past.

Followed by some kind of technical glitch. If your home phone is dirty or old it is possible that the redial button is trigger happy and could go off by itself.

Finally the least likely outcome is someone trying to call your friend who he is avoiding using a Caller ID spoofing service to fake the caller ID o check if he'll pick up a known number. This is very low probability unless you associate with a lot of psychos.

Calling Bell is a waste of time as they won't help you.

Fail. Intruder is the least likely explanation.

When I was in high school this girls phone called me....so I walk up to her the next day and shes like I have no clue....and she gave some reason why it was totally not her that did it....so I was like look at your outgoing calls, and my number was in there. (we were both in e/o phone books and both were cellular) but i do think it is possible it is an error, but I would be ready to bust out a sams club size of whoopass just in case.

those online things that call your phone and P-Diddy is speaking in Ebonics to you about how badass your friend thinks he is and how you should go buy some VitaminWater are pretty glitchy and could have resulted in this. i know sometimes when my coworkers and i mess around with those that occasionally the phone will ring but the recording won't play. the first time i had this done to me, my friend made it look like it was coming from my dad's cell phone and i was utterly bewildered.

Nothing left to do but bolt up all the doors and windows, you've clearly been compromised.

Yeah, switchboard lady probably just connected MPL 752 instead of MPL 751 like she meant to.

"According to a 2008 report by the National Center for Health Statistics, one in six households did not have a traditional landline "

which leaves 5 out of 6 households who still do.

I don't think you need to be 74 years old to want to have a reliable way for someone to contact you. (no dead batteries, leaving it in the car/pants pocket, bad reception at peak hours, etc.)
