This post is entirely devoid of thought. You could not have put any thought into typing this sentence, and then typed it, unless you are a mongoloid.

Just get whatever is cheapest or maybe 5 bucks more than cheapest. Poor students don't care about quality of alcohol, they just want to get drunk. They'll be more than grateful for any free alcohol.

Ouch!!! As a very experienced heavy vodka drinker i can vouch for a horrible hungover after all of those with the exception of Goose. Quality of vodka is not really measured by the way its going in but more of how it makes you feel while you fcked up and how do you feel next morning. I'd go with Smirnoff, Russian Standard (personal favorite) or Goose.
Also i feel that Cognac is not getting enough love here. Courvasier, Martelle or Hennessey a must have in any bar...well Remy isn't bad either.

I've never ever had a bad hangover after Absolut.
Not to derail too much but Absolut > Smirnoff imo.

But I dont necessarily disagree with your Wodka recommendation. If you like Wodka, get Belvedere, but it costs like 40 Euros over here and it's from Poland, so it might cost 80$ in the states.

I would definitely get Absolut, since it's good quality and not so expensive. Same goes for Moskovskaya.

Obviously you've done some tightly-controlled tests of this

People who say X vodka gives them a worse hangover than Y vodka usually had one night with X where they drank more vodka than they have had with Y, and they didn't drink as much water.

scotch: j&b (on the rocks), glenfiddich 15 (sipped neat), jw black (neat or rocks)
bourbon: knob creek, jim beam white
vodka: russian standard
rum: havana club (if you can get it outside the us)
gin: tangueray, bombay sapphire

agnostura bitters, tonic, limes, orange

The best value bourbon is easily Evan Williams.

Not true at all. There are Vodkas which use inferior alcohol.

Have you put it through a mass spectrometer to verify this claim? Or what is your basis for this assertion?

Wookie,
can't make at least two of my favorite at-home classics without the luxardo maraschino: aviation, and last word. Good stuff. Highly recommend last word for those people trying to get their friends ****ed up.

as for the vodka: a) like I said, I really never touch those bottles b) I assumed that hangover guy must be levelling but I guess probably not c) if dome use inferior alcohol (kinda lol), wouldn't this be true of all liquors and liqueurs, causin a similar variation of hangovers? Since we never, ever hear such claims on other alcohols, and since wookie's claims make sense while the other sides do not (hell, is there even a reason to believe that "inferior alcohol" would lead to more hangovers?), I think that we can call this myth busted already. See wookie's vodka thread for more, I think. And I guess any mire discussion on this line should probably go there?

Dude, as i said before, you dealing with with highly experienced and well trained vodka drinker. All of my client interactions and negotiations involve a massive amount of alcohol and most of the time its either vodka or Cognac. For last 15 years I've been testing vodkas in the "crash test" environment with people who seems to take pride on the amount of liqueur they can consume (don't ask) and those three seems to be universal choices of that group. Sure there are few other vodkas that are pretty good (Crystal, Imperial, Chopin, Belvedere, Balinoff etc) but Absolute is definitely not one of them.

Remember that a little water will make the taste stand out better.
If you're going to have more than one single malt I would only have one Islay whisky, not everyone likes the peat/smokey flavours. You should pair it with Glenfiddich or another Speyside whisky.

No, no scientific proof, just experience.

Btw I dont think your Vodka selection is bad and dont think you get a headache from any of them, but havent tried all of them yet.

Obviously you must be drinking exactly the same quantities of liquor each time, over the same period of time each time, with the same types and quantities of mixers each time, after eating the same type and quantity of food each time, and with the same amount of water afterwards each time. Indeed, after you've eliminated the impossible, whatever's left, no matter how improbable, must be the truth! It can only be explained by the brand of vodka.

Furthermore, there's absolutely no way in your penis measuring drinking contests that people would tend to favor the more expensive vodkas. Nope, no way at all.

Nothing wrong with a vodka tonic imo (throw in a wedge of fresh orange for flavor). That alone doesn't make him "special." (The "wine >>> liquor, obv" statement was of course rather silly).

I thought it was just because you pay so much for Grey Goose and then you mix it which is kinda dumb?

Big vodka tonic fan btw
