On the week-ends in college we used to drive to the Jersey shore. There are 35¢ tolls on the Garden State Parkway. There's a sign that says, "if you miss the bucket, blow horn, then continue."

The guy driving used the pretend to throw the change, honk the horn then go. Saved about $2 each way.

Anyway, every morning on the mail run, he'd stop at a local convenience store/gas station to purchase 2 Little Debbie snack cakes. They were $0.25 each. The sales tax in our area was such that if he bought 1, there was no tax. However, purchasing 2 meant the tax was enough to round up to a penny, making the total $0.51. Not only would he stand in line twice, buying them one at a time, he would pay for both with a credit card, as he made 1% on purchases.
laugh out ****ing loud.

also my mom also brought her own coffee maker to vegas to avoid coffee prices lol.

if i have nothing but 20's in my wallet and something comes out to like 21.35 ill ask my girlfriend for the 1.35 so i don't have to break the other 20's. i dunno why, its like i stop counting the money as part of how much i have if its not a 20 or higher.

My story is pretty tame compared to most of the others but whatever:

I used to work with a girl who was always angle shooting for this that and the other. For info, she's in her mid 30's and has a very good salary.

One day, we go on a lunch-break together. The plan was to go to the local mall, buy lunch and bring it back and eat in the office.

We go to the same store and I'm choosing my sandwiches, and after about 5 minutes she comes up to me and says

"I'm going to get a quiche lorraine, but they come in packs of 2, do you want the other one ?"

Me: "Sure if you want"

When we got back to the office, she opened up the pack, took hers, gave me other one and promptly asked me for the 2 euros that I owed her. WTF ?! I wasn't bothered about paying for my share of something, but the way she asked me in the store made it out she was offering me the second quiche because she didn't want it, and she knew it. It was just her way of ensuring she saved 2 euros (about $2) I paid her with no complaints but made a mental note never to let it happen again.

Another of her favourite tricks was on people's birthdays at work. It was a work custom to buy a card for someone and to put a few euros in an envelope passed around the office to everyone with which we all bought a small gift. It was a small company so this wasn't a big deal and everyone took part. I was watching her one time and saw her pretending to put money in the envelope but never actually doing it, but still signing the card and attending the after work drink / party (paid for by the person whose birthday it was) and accepting the thanks for the gift.

Not putting money in the envelope would be fine obv. What was wrong was that she pretended to put money in and accepted credit and thanks for doing so.

On her birthday, she sent out an invitation to everyone at the company for a party at her house. Everyone thought this was great and nearly everyone accepted. She then proceeded to send a second email out asking everyone to bring a bottle and she put a PS on the bottom of the email:

"PS If you are looking for gift ideas, I need a new digital camera"

And yes, she was serious.

When we got to the party, she had provided just a couple of her own bottles of alcohol and a few peanuts and chips in a bowl. And that was it. At the end of the night, she wouldn't let anyone leave until we had all helped with tidying and cleaning up. She put all the unused bottles in her fridge and cupboards.

So hang on, what do the guests get out of this party again ?! WTF ?! Holding birthday "parties" was just a great way of stocking up her fridge with drinks and getting presents.

Another time, she was moving house and asked me for help. I went along. It was 90°F that day and I helped for 6 hours. She didn't provide anything to eat, just gave me a glass of water when I asked for one, and not even a word of thanks when I left.

Shortly after, I totally deleted her off my friends list.
why the hell did you help her move?

she was hot, obv.

Anyway, dude who used only one body wash bottle all year is smart, not stingy. Water gets you just as clean as soap, 99% of the time.

I refused to pay to use a bathroom when i went to europe out of principle. List of places i peed include the water in venice, the steps to a subway in strasbourg, a street in munich, and right by the feet of some dude in czech rep who was trying to collect money by the door for himself even though there was a sign that said it was free and not to pay anyone.

that'll show 'em. The total cost of the items in the mini-bar is probably <$100.

I don't get why this is brought up. Maybe i'm missing who you consider is stingy here, your brother for not wanting to share his drink or the a-hole not bringing his own damn drink and smooching off of others.
It used to tilt the s*** out of me when i would have a long martial arts seminar of 2 hours or more in hot/summer weather and i'd bring my nice cold bottle of gatorade that I took the time and thought in advance to bring with me, then once i'm done with practice overheated and thirsty I find out that some inconsiderate a-hole drank it. I wish I would have thought of peeing in my gatorade

if he thinks smoking various brands of cigarettes is worse than keeping w the same brand, the he doesn't need to smoke any pot

My wife's cousin's boyfriend constantly complains about his food to get it taken off his bill. They are from Jersey so when we were in AC last week they came down to eat lunch with us but said it had to be somewhere cheap because they didn't have any money.

We get to the place and the bf orders a $12 drink and proceedes to complain about it so it is taken off the bill. He does the before we get our food so I'm hoping they only spit in his and not mine.

Later on I'm just about finished with my lunch and make a comment that I'm really full. Without asking the dude reaches over and snags the remaining food from my plate for his to go box. It was like 3 bites worth of turkey from a sandwich so it's not a big deal and most likely i would have just left it there but I very well might have eaten it. It's not like I said "I'm finished eating does anyone want this turkey"

Sorry but I think this is disgusting. When I see orange piss in the urinal I just flush it right away anyway so it defeats the purpose.

If people keep doing this I'm not flushing my brown stuff - we'll see how they like that!
