This guy was a true oddball and very lazy in general... I'm not so sure he would even expend the energy to pick a dime off the floor.
He just somehow got it in his head that he wanted this particular dime, and couldn't bring himself to wait to see if I would walk away. Maybe he was a dime short of getting his own candy bar or something.
Also, if our company treated us to food, he would pack as much of it as he could into his backpack (until he got called out for that as well). Sometimes he would wait until everyone had a crack at the food... sometimes not. That's a little more standard, though. The dime was just lame.
