How do you know how far they walked, and how do you know how much their tickets were worth?

or

Is that how far you walked, when you cashed in your $0.01 tickets?

Can someone explain this joke? I assume it's a joke, because the notion that you ought to buy your pets gifts is really dumb.

Yeah I didn't get it. Having said that I did buy my dogs some treats to eat for Christmas, I'm still waiting on my thank you card.

It's from that stupid thread where the guy is at Mcdonalds and calls the arab guy a terrorist "McD's drama" thread or whatever.

First date. Coffee. Really just coffee. So about 3 euros. This guy clearly states that he won't pay for mine the moment we sit at the table . According to him he has a job.

Really awkward and totally not sexy. And I would get it, that he doesn't want to pay for a girl even 3 euros, if he is not interested. But he was.

Just meeehhhh.

Expecting the guy to always pay everything is stupid and sexist

Standard PUA technique. He's a lover, not a provider. Might as well make that clear from the beginning.

I always assumed that whoever asked the other out paid for the first date, then it was either split the check or pay for your own after that. Is that no longer standard?

On a blind date once which I didn't want to go on but a friend insisted we were "perfect for each other" I had won two tickets to a show. We didn't go for dinner or drinks, we went directly to the show and he didn't have to pay for anything since he used a free ticket of mine.

There was no chemistry at all. He had picked me up and as he was dropping me off, he asked for $5 for gas. Just remembered that one.

Also, at a prior job we had a customer give each of us last years calendar that were from his company. Someone pointed out that it was last years thinking he had made a mistake, and he replied that he knew they were leftovers.

I agree. And I even don't expect a guy to pay 3 euros for a coffee on a first date. In fact I payed many many times for both and it was OK.

But that was just mehhh. He is out of question as a lover. I mean I don't look for a provider.
I mean alone this statement beforehand: We pay separate. Sex requires that certain barriers between two disappear. He sets already with this statement additional barrier.

And what killed me: The sum. 3 Euros.

That is really good and perfectly fine. Most of the guys do also live that.

I have probably paid for 99% of meals when going out on a date , its just how I always thought it was. Just recently that I have some liquidity issues and I'm seeing a girl who makes mid six figures that I have let her put in around half , but that's only cause I'm a little cash poor right now and she has a legit 25000+ a year eating out budget. I also have to assume that it's us guys who do the date asking anyway right ? , so by that criteria , we should be paying anyway. Catch 22 there.

I don't think we expect men to pay all of the time. Just the first time if you did the asking for the date. I wouldn't set the precedent though by paying for the second if I were a guy because then I think some women would expect it all of the time.

That's how I have always approached it. It has worked out well for me (outside the three divorces of course ) .

I work at Target. Some guy keeps returning one pack of index cards without a receipt. I give him his 50 cents, he goes on his way. For all I know he just takes the index cards right off the shelf.

I told the Assets Protection woman about it, to see if she cared. She just laughed.

So, if you ever need 50 cents, now you know how to get it!

To make it even odder, today the index cards came up 53 cents, for whatever reason. He told me to keep the three cents. So he's one of those big-hearted life nits.

What's his reasoning for returning these constantly?

is she constantly paying for others to rack up 25k a year in expenses for eating out or are you in NYC or something? 500/wk eating out just seems nuts to me.

Yes. Nyc. Been hanging out with her on maybe 10 days and we have been to probably 12 meals over 40 a head . I'm usually in the 40 a day eating out budget because I sprinkle in a lot of Chinatown breakfast/ lunch and will have a good dinner. She is in the 20/30/40 breakfast lunch/dinner tier. I find it real cool her range is so wide though. She probably spends 25k of her own money and has another 5-10k that she is able to expense.

And you have 'liquidity issues‘?

My boss (also my Uncle) eats out for lunch almost every day, as do I. We used to often eat together. Once we were at a dine-in place for lunch, got the bill (it wasn't split). He hands me the bill as he often does and starts getting money to pay me. His meal was $12 total, so I tell him he owed me $13.20 (including the tax), plus tip. He puts his dollar on the table for the tip and says "no, my meal was only $12." I inform him he forgot the tax, to which he replies "oh I didn't realize this was one of those places that didn't include the tax in the cost of the item" and begrudgingly pays me.

He eats out 10 times a week and is a penny pincher that full well knows about every penny he spends and where it came from; of course he's well aware tax exists. He just wanted to stiff me it. Needless to say I found an excuse to stop grabbing lunch with him. Got tired of getting stiffed 50 cents here, a buck fifty there due to him insisting I handle the bill and then shorting me on tax or tip. That coming from an employer who is happy with my work who is also an Uncle that likes me and my parents. He's really just that cheap.

Please tell me if your food is 12 dollars plus tax you don't also leave a 1 dollar tip.
