May have already been said.. but i hate when someone tells me they need to get some gas, and they drive 10 miles away because its a few cents cheaper than the station 100 yards down the street.

Buddy in college would drink half-filled lukewarm beers in the morning from the night after a party.

He called the beers free agents lol.

I don't know if this should be considered stingy, disgusting, or awesome. Or all three.

In HS/early college (?), I used to drink the morning after getting plastered. Dunno why, thought it was pretty dumb in later life. Drinking lukewarm beers the morning after a party is revolting.

iv seen a guy do that at the end of a party when all drink was done. Onlt he went around drinking the suds/saliva mixture that is left at the bottom of bottles. nearly made me sick seeing it

then later that night his girlfriend got up drunk as ****, walked past the bathroom and into the kitchen, pulled down her pants, sat in a chair took a piss. She had no excuse for being confused as she lived in the house lol

I'm almost laughing out loud at you noticing and remembering the guy not giving you three pennies for a job that's really not worthy of a tip in the first place.

That reminds me of one from my McDonald's days in high school. A ketchup packet busted open in the box one day, so naturally ketchup got on a half dozen or so other packets. The girl working drivethru was about to just throw them all in the trash, but the manager stopped her and made her take them back to the sink and rinse them off so they could be used.

That is not stingy. That is not being a wasteful pig.

I used to date a girl who would call me late in the evening telling me to go get gas because it was going up by a cent or two the next morning. I would explain to her that it would cost me an extra 40 cents to not be crazy and just get gas when I was on my way to something. She would then explain that the 40 cents was better in my pocket than theirs. We had this conversation on a weekly basis. She didn't last too long.

when I was a kid I remember my father being good friends with a petrol station owner.
He would also call us whenever he was about to increase the prices (always incremental increases of like 1 or 2 cents) and I was told by my parents to call them up whenever this happened and they weren't in.
At the time I thought this friend was crazily helpful and saving us tons of money. Now I think back and lol, especially since my father had his own surgery and was making several 100k a year.

meh i do that. not suds/saliva mixture but i kill all the "free agents" at the end. i could see myself being really drunk and drinking the cans before seeing how much was in it and having some crazyfool watch me from across the room like wtf?!

during big parties at my place or a close friend's place i always take half full+ beers laying around and put them back in the fridge. it's more about wanting beer to last since liquor stores close way before i plan the night to end.

$5 ?

Tank of gas = $30, Parking = $15

$45 / 3 = $15. Where did you go to school?

Plus I fronted the tickets on my credit card.

I see everyone's point, but the people I hang out with are NOT like this. We all watch out for each other and if it was any of the other 4 people with me that had the gift card, I would have been given my $20 back. (That's why I took the passive route to begin with. We don't ask each other for anything unless it is worthwhile.)

The other brother in the car with me is a life long friend. He has both given and taken from me in the past and I could and did give him a pass on this one without a second thought as he has done for me before.

Sorry, while alot of you don't find it stingy, I find it weasle-like and Uncle Henry will have to find his own way to the Browns game next time.

It's like when you watch a real bad player misplay a hand and get lucky. Your just like "wow" because you would not have never played it that way yourself. That was kind of how I felt.

I did this last weekend for the first time ever, but not to the extent that other clown did. The keg was tapped and I wasn't super drunk and I saw a few cups some people left that were half-full. I DON'T WASTE BEER.

I always pocket small change like this because I feel like a 3 cent tip is insulting. I might drop quarters, but meaningless change just feels dickish.

if i buy stuff with £1 and it's 99p (or £3 and it's £2.95) or whatever i'll always wait about for the change, not because i want it, but because it just feels so ******ed to say 'ya don't worry about the penny' and sprint out. they don't have a dish of coins to put it on in england, and obviously tipping isn't done.

generally i will do some elaborate 'rearranging my money' or 'wiping down the pint i have just purchased' trick so i don't feel like an idiot standing about.

told this to a friend once and he said he will purposefully pay with a larger bill to avoid this situation, haha.

I think we all agree with you here. I find it very stingy that he didn't offer to pitch in for gas and parking. He could have made it right by paying for your food or a portion of it. We are just saying that the gift card has no bearing on the fact he was stingy.

(Btw, you repeatedly mentioning the fact that you fronted the tickets on your credit card as a factor kind of makes you sound stingy.)

Yeah, I totally know that spot Yeti. Like I feel like the ******* waiting for them to fumble with my 4 cents, but I also feel like I'd be an ******* if I was all "nah, I'm magnanimous, keep the 4 cents for your troubles".

Not sure if this is stingy or not, but yeti's post made me think of it. Anytime I pay with cash at a restaurant and I need change and they bring back improper change I leave a less than I otherwise would. Say bill is $29.57 and I pay with 2 $20s. I would usually leave maybe $36 or $37 total (I know henry would tell me not to ask for change bc tip is only 35% anyways). However, some percentage of the time they come back with $10 and no change. I always leave a few bucks less, maybe $34 total, for the person who thinks they can just pocket the change without reprecussion.
